Guitar storage

I recently moved into a new place and I dont have space for my guitars. I used to live with my parents, and I never really slept there though, so all of my guitars were all over the place, in front of the bed, tv, basically anywhere and every where. Now in this aprtment, I have a room that is the music room and I dont have room for the guitars and stands. Between the couch, two computer desks, t.v. stand and stereo cabinet, every wall is taken up.

I was thinking of getting a bunch of wall hangers for my guitars, but I am wondering if this is OK. I know it seems stupid, but Ive always had mine on stands, not hanging on a wall. Sometimes one will sit for months without being played, and I only have a nice hard shell case for one. It probably doesnt make a difference, but can the guitar be damaged by haning from the neck for long periods of time?
 
Lose a computer desk, the couch, and the tv. Your guitars want to live in their cases.

Thanks thus far guys. I do know that the case is the best place for them, but as I said I only have one hard shell case as of now. Once I get one of them with upgraded with new components I will get a case for that one as well. But my question is will hanging a guitar from its neck cause any long term problems besides sunlight or humidity?
 
My guitars used to be perfectly happy in their cases, under the bed. One day they started insisting that I take them out and play them. So, I bought a 5 way stand and run a humidifier in the winter. The guitars seem much happier now and when they are happy I'm happy :)

All things being equal, no you won't cause any problems from hanging your guitars as opposed to keeping them in the case. It just makes it harder to maintain a decent environment for them. Keep an eye on them and react to any problems as they occur and be a little more cautious if you need to move them from one place to another via the big outdoors.
