Is it better, when micing a a guitar amp, to place the mic equal distance from the two speakers in my amp, or directly infront of one? Is one speaker bass and one treble, or do they both play the same thing?

Put it right in front of one of them. They should both be playign the exact same frequencies. If you put the mic between them, you rick hitting a "dead" spot where there is little to no sound and it will sound like ass.

It would help to know what kind of amp you have. Are both speakers the same size and designed for stereo or are they different size designed for different frequencies?

Most will mic a single speaker in a 2x12 or 4x12 type enclosure. Some mic on axis with the center of one speaker, and others mic a ways out from center of the speaker. Pick the one that sounds best to you.
