Guitar Rig 4 a suitable allternative to owning a crappy amp?

I'm not arguing with you guys about whether he should be banned or not. But, the fact is, he didn't just say he was trying it out. He made it clear he "might pay for it if it pays for itself". I don't think someone has to come out and say "I'M PIRATING SOFTWARE" for it to be clear that he was doing exactly that.

Again, I'm not passing judgement on what the punishment should have been. But let's not pretend we're stupid.

HEY!!

an I agree....

Hey Greg, Is it possible to get Guitar Rig without the Guitar Rig Kontrol for cheaper. Or would you recommend getting the Kontrol bundle? Do you use the Kontrol alot or just DI into your system?

I've run Guitar Rig 4 for bands that I've recorded and they all say their guitar sounds better in my studio than anywhere else they play it. :) I really like the Guitar Rig software. It works awesome. I don't even use the extra effects on it. You can beef up your sound really nice with ONLY the Control Room module that 4 comes with. You can't tell it's software that's pumping that sound at all. Sounds just like playing it out of a half stack!

What are you guys using (that use GR) after GR in your chain for output?

I currently have a MAC->UA20->home amp->Speakers and the sound is good but also sounds like I'm missing something in the tone or feel like jjjtttggg was mentioning. I was thinking about purchasing monitors but was reading in another forum about just purchasing a keyboard amp.

Any thoughts?

And I'm back after being banned for 3 months! What I did was not take the subject seriously. I didn't pedal my warez or admit to anything other than playing devils advocate and being sarcastic. People shouldn't jump to conclusions based on a sarcastic response to a completely understandable discussion. What I've learned is some people are just sensitive and up tight with certain issues instead of being understanding and discussing the issue. Too taboo maybe LOL. Although I feel banning someone over a legitimate debate doesn't prove anything other than self serving intolerance, I am very sorry for what I've done.

I did learn my lesson. I won't be bringing it up again and I do apologize to the admin for making them judge without question or warning. Guilty with no way to prove innocent. Watch what you say, because there is obviously a fine line between "bragging" and discussing any given issue. Make sure it's acceptable before you talk about it. Because I had no idea I was going to get banned for saying I wanted to try stuff out before I buy it and how these companies should give you a good month using their product before making you buy it.

I'm not trying to start anything, just telling my side of things. that's all. If I were to get banned for it, it was good to see you guys anyway LOL.

they can suck my ass if they're gonna ban me for just talking about something.
NO ONE tells me what I can or can't talk about.

Hey !!
Welcome back, foul one ! Good to see you around.
I know an upstanding lawyer that can get you compensation !

Scratch that. He said he could get you to Compton station !

Guitar rig 4 would be a great choice. Especially if you are new in recording. All you do is plug in your guitar to your interface and create a setup in guitar rig. Choose the position of the mic and many other options. I think that with a physical amp and some recording experience you can match or exceed the guitar rig quality. It's very hard to find software that can match that warm sound of a tube but I used Guitar Rig 4 on an album that I'm finishing and it sounds pretty good :-)

I will take a copy of straight out of Compton, thanks :D

Yeah it is pretty good sounding. If you don't have the money or access to a ton of amps and gear it will do the job fine. With a little tweaking you can find a tone you'll love I think. I can see some people not being happy with it at all, but they probably have the money and access that most of use regular starving artists do not have.
