guitar recommendation

hello all, i'm looking for some advice on buying an electric guitar.
i'm leaning towards a strat style guitar possibly some type of Ibanez. have been checking out some Tokai strats too. my budget unfortunately is £300.
i'd really like this guitar to be quite versitile as i'd like to use it for palm muting - rock/metal sounds but also sweet clean tones, a bit of twang & minimal hum. i'm not asking much ;)

any input is appreciated
 
You can get a nice used Ibanez RG on Ebay for around £300 - at some stage in the future you can swap out the stock pickups.
 
+1 for those 2 options - you'll get much more guitar for the same money. They are both great quality. Xaviere guitars from Guitar Fetish come with GFS pickups, but Rondo has a bit more choices and their copies resemble the originals more closely.

i would also recommend looking into a guitar with p-90's as they have a good amount of twang but still sound tight when distorted.

thanks for all the input, appreciated. regarding the Ibanez RG's , i've been recommended the RG321, anyone here have experience with this model?
