When using a guitar plug in or Amp sim such as Guitar Rig 5 does the quality of the guitar really matter?

For example can anyone tell the difference between a USA Strat or a cheapo Squire or a Gibson LP Standard vs an Epiphone when utilising an effect from GR5 or an amp sim?

Just curious as to what peoples thoughts are on this.

Definitely matters. I have a nice tele, P90 strat, and SG I use a lot, and each sounds way different, and each has their character.

A decent amp sim will work just like an amp (shocker)! So the guitar definitely matters.

It does make a difference, but not as much as it does with using a real amp.

For sure the quality of the guitar matters. For recording, it is always the source that is the most important part. So make sure your guitar is of good quality, has relatively new strings on it, is tuned perfectly (using a digital tuner).
