Guitar effects for CEP2?

Are there any specialized guitar effects that could be used as plugin in Cool Edit Pro2 such as distorsion, amp simulator etc.

If anyone has the wnswer I would be greatful
 
Are you asking if Cool Edit 2 has any built-in guitar effects?
 
yeah something like that, as plugin if possible, if not than something appropriate that I can use?
 
Well, it's got a bunch of reverbs, and it's got a bunch of delays, and some chorus effects and phasers and odd bits of weirdness. You can use all of that stuff on guitar for effects. All of that stuff is built in.

But if you want to get your hands on a plugin for something special, then Cool will recognize it and you can use it in Cool on your dry guitar tracks to add the effect.

But you can't record the Cool Edit effect or the plugin effect when you're recording, right? You have to record the track dry, and add the effect later.
 
Well I know all that that you've mentioned.
What I was looking for is effect like strong guitar distorsion, amp simulator or something like that...

I would be greatful even more for real time play guitar amp simulator.
I have one "ReValver" but there are lots of things that I dont like.

So if something like that you have on your list... I would be more than greatful ;)
 
No, Cool Edit doesn't add effects in real time as you're recording, it only does stuff after the fact. And all its effects are pretty generic - there's nothing too specific to guitar.

Do you have Line 6 Pod? There's a ton of strange effects built into that.
 
It depends on what you want to do here. My experience of recording distortion on guitars is to reaord the distortion coming out of the guitar amp's speakers with the distortion switched on. The speaker is an important part of the signal chain as is the amp itself. This goes right back to the input load that the amp puts on the guitar pickup. So, if you can, try this. Use a DI box to get a clean tak eof the guitar with no distortion on one track. Put an SM57 just off speaker center axis about 4 inches from the speaker grille facing at the speaker. Record this on a second track. Now you have a we and a dry track. You can mix these two signals to get the balance you need.

OK so you recorded the guitar dry and now you want to add distortion. Two ways.

1). The best way imho: play the CEP track with the clean guitar back through the amp with all the distortion setup and running. Place the mic as I said earlier and set the amp volume so it sounds realistic and record this to a second track.

2). play the clean (dry) track back to a distortion box and plug the output back into your sound card. This records silently but you lose the qualities of the amp and its speaker. I like this less but if you are in your bedroom at 3AM then it's the only way.

After you have doen ths you again have a 2 track, wet and dry. Mix 'em as you wish.

I use it once. It was not bad but I far prefer my method 1 above.
 
I use a behringer vamp and have had great results with it! I would highly reccommend it! You have to have the midi connection to unlock the setting though....
