Guitar amps that wives will let you keep in the living room

Because you had your amp in the living room? :D

No. Sorry I didn't make sense. It was like a "risky business" moment. Instead of lip syncing to "old time rock and roll" in my underwear, I actually played my guitar through my stage amp in the living room (although I liked the sound better in the kitchen since it has wood floors). Most of the time, I just play through my little 20 watter in the dark corner of my basement and leave the living space in the house to mama and the boys.

Someone posted this over at my forum a while back:

I hope the picture works, they weren't loading for me a moment ago, but I think the server was just blocked at work...

OK, in that thread, the first pic of the cabinet has two different drivers, a later picture has two of the same drivers (or at least identical cones). What up with dat? Also, unprotected cones at kid level would not survive five minutes in my house

You can't go wrong with wood finishes on cabinets and heads when you're trying to win over your girl's opinion on leaving gear out for easy access.

I've become quite the fan of using loose, breathable, decorative fabrics as grill cloth. You gotta make sure to paint the cavity but it's sick, sick, sick, sick.

I must be doing something right. I have what is supposed to be our "dining room" as my band room in our house. Not to mention my wife encouraged me to buy my ENGL amp because it "looked cool" hahaha.

You've got a winner there!

I've got a dedicated studio space (I want it that way), but I've got a winner too.

She recently said to me, "You've got so many guitars, you should pick one and leave it up here in the house so you've got one to grab and play whenever you want." :D

Then even more recently, when I ordered a new amp--a 2x12 100 watt tube combo--I made a joke about getting rid of my existing 2x12 100 watt combo (assuming it would seem like overkill to her). She said, "Yeah, but don't you need different amps for different sounds?" :D:D

Now admittedly, she caught herself quickly after that last one and said, "What am I saying?? Did I just give you permission to buy even more amps?"

Just a small glimpse at what makes me such a lucky guy!

I let my wife re cloth a few of my amps that I wanted in the house so she picked the cloth and I have a few amps inside the house!
Not tied up out in the back yard.

Somebody call the ASPCA--

The American Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Amplifiers

My wife insists that I keep at least one amp in the living room. She says it's the only way she can keep me home. I can think of a couple of others but I'll be nice. ;)

Holy crap!:eek::eek:

Yeah, when you chumps have impregnated a female more often than I have, we can talk.

I have 5 kids, and a Marshall 1/2 stack in the living room (keeps it closer to the door for load-out).

When your wife stops calling you chump behind your back, we can talk.

That's it right there.
The stuff I use regularly doesn't make it in much further than right next to the front door. The rest I stash around the house but I'll be damned if I'm carrying everything else thru the house every night.

I have 5 kids

I have six :p Nice try though :D

The good news is the penis-measuring contest can soon end. I've ordered parts to build the cabinet--I decided to just go with passive cabinet rather than active amp, because guitarists are too fussy about their amps and they can't all be expected to see things my way. That will come another day.

So I've got a 2x8 ported cab, 16 or 4 ohm, Speakon or 1/4" locking input, built-in 100W variable attenuator. Front finish can be trim ring, metal grille, or cloth grille.

When it's done I'll send it to Lt. Bob for his verdict :)

Should have known. Some guys try to turn everything into a dick-measuring contest.

Check post #10 to see who started it (surprise, surprise). I tried several times to steer the conversation back to amplifier design. I guess the mistake I made was assuming people here were smart enough to talk about that :p

Doesn't matter, I will build the cab, and I will sell them, and other people will buy them.

Do you have any positive contribution to this thread, or are you just another chump talking smack?
