Another thought just came to mind. Perhaps if the extra $25.00 is required, it could be added on to the shipping charge. This would also avoid added Pay Pal charges
Except this would require you to pay the extra $25X(units sold) up front, which could be as much as $7425, though very unlikely.

This is a good idea, however, before China will build these units they must be paid in full. If we do not meet the 100 per pre-amp, say purchase and pay for 95 of each of the 3 pre-amps for a total of 285 preamps, we are $25 short per pre for a total of over $7000!!! Let's just hope that everyone involved is able to honor their order and we all benefit.

I believe I typed too slow.

Actually, because of my past business with the manufacturer only 50% is required for them to start manufacturing our gear. They will not ship until the other 50% is paid.

It would be simplest just to bill again if more $$ is needed. Put in a cut off date for payment. The complexity and incremental savings related to adding the second payment to shipping just to avoid additional paypal fees hardly seems worth it, much less needing to front the extra $25 per unit until you get paid for the shipping charge. Given the scope of this Buy, simpler is better, even if it might not be the absolute cheapest approach.

Absolutely. Don't be creating extra work/risk for yourself just to save each of us two buck in paypal fees. If the minimum isn't met when the payment day passes, bill us and get that money in your hands so there are no delays on the other end of this process. It would really suck if we all had to wait a few extra weeks because a couple of dozen people slacked on paying their bill on the back end.

I just sent a PM to Chance along these same lines...

I might not "think right" though, as I'm a software developer and I'm also looking for a way to automate things... With that type of thought process, it would be a lot easier, since I have everyone's data already in the database, to just write a script to send PayPal requests out to those folks... Hand-off for everyone like that...no work.

The other way described, with making the $25.00 mandatory, either way you go, even if the units don't exceed the 100 mark, somebody (Chance) will have manual work to do...and probably quite a bit of it... AND, really the only thing that will be saved going this route will be PayPal charges...which hardly seems worth it when you look at the amount of manual labor that could be involved.

Just my .02 worth...

Great News!
I would suspect the #s to increase over the next 2 1/4 days with the change in Price taking place. 50% of the people backing out seems highly unlikely...

I for 1 will be ordering 2 more pres... most likely 84s.

B.

I'm in for 2 73s and 6 84s. I have to cap myself out at 8 channels. My instinct is to go for 16 channels but that's getting nuts.

We haven't even heard these things after all.

Which did you already order?

(and remember, a lot of folks ordering aren't paying any attention to the numerous dialogs in the various forums).

That's because some of us only have limited time to check in everyday and since we're now discussing white thongs with red lettering in the GB thread some of us just can't be bothered checking it. Don't get me wrong - I think we need to have some fun too but man it just seems to go on and on. :(

Ok, I'll go back to shutting up now.... :o

BTW, great idea Randy and Chance.

You guys are doing an excellent job, i agree with all your decisions thus far.

No doubt...

Great job and thanks again...I'm just waiting for an invoice...I'll then pay it...and be very patient.

3 pres/4 mics....this is going to be fun.

Hey Randy, once the deadline has come and gone, are you going to have a running count of the paid products? This will be fun to watch and keep up with, and a round of applause will be heard around the world when each pre hits 100 paid!!

Charlie

Why is the counter off by four hours? It's showing 1 day, 23 hours, 48 minutes. 12:00 A.M. EDT on the 13th is Midnight on Sunday morning, or 9:00 saturday night for me. That's 2 days, 3 hours, 44 minutes.

It's ahead by four hours and about two or three minutes.

Yep.. I haven't built it yet, but I will tonight or in the morning...just so we'll have it ready when the time comes!

Thanks!

Check the time/date/timezone settings on your computer... It's baseed on that... Like I said in another post, it's mostly just there just for fun... That's why I listed the time/date in text: April 13, 2008 - 12am EDT...

But yeah, check your setting to make sure they're correct... If they are, I'll look into it deeper... I've used this same clock code for about 3 years now on HulaBowlHawaii.com and it's always seemed to work...at least no one has complained yet! :D

My computer is synchronized to a network time server and displays the right time.... :)

The error is pretty much precisely off by the difference between GMT and EDT. If the cutoff 12 A.M. GMT, then the counter would be off by just a couple of minutes.

Ah. Found it. This appears to be a Safari-specific date parsing issue. The time zone you specified is probably not technically valid, so I'm a little surprised it works anywhere, but apparently IE and FireFox are... insanely forgiving.... *sigh*

If I specify the TargetDate value as either its actual zone name (EDT) or in the standard ARPA format (GMT-0400), it gives the correct result in Safari, too. I've added notes on this issue to WebKit bug #14176. :D

Also, technically Date() doesn't take an argument at all according to w3schools. Technically you should be using Date.parse(string). I'm guessing Safari implements this as some backwards-compatibility hack for an IE extension or something. Dunno. Not that this would make any difference in this case, AFAIK, just something you should probably tweak at some point.

Great!!! This is going to be fun. Everyone that orders a pre will be watching and cheering with each unit paid.

Charlie

PS I think we all know when our selections are due and final, your email was direct and really needed. I've got my selections all set, and I suspect everyone else has also. Great job Randy.

2 73s... still not sure what mics to get this time. I was thinking of trying the acm-2 because Chance has said it's the "one" for guitar cabs... and I'm not that thrilled w/ the acm-3 (I have yet to tension the ribbon though) So I was thinking of giving it a shot. Maybe a 1200 too. I love the 310s I have. Still have a couple days to think about it...

Why do you ask? I just don't think I need all the EQ of the 81 and I like VU meters...
