FedEx-Claus dropped of boxes 1, 2, and 4 of my 5-box shipment yesterday. I received my ACM-70, ACM-900, ACM-1200 mics, one of my ACM-3s, my ACMP-73, and ACMP-84 pres. Still waiting for my remaining ACM-3s, ACM-4, ACM-310, and ACM6802T mics and ACMP-81 pres. Hopefully boxes 3 and 5 will show up today.
It's going to be a very busy weekend trying to finish Christmas shopping, baking, and testing out all of the gear. My friend may have some open time at his studio so I'm going to see if I can get over there to evaluate the new gear.
It will be mics and pres in paradise.
Mele Kalikimaka e ka Hauoli Makahiki Hou - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Honolulu, Hawaii !!!
Props to Chance for all his blood, sweat, and ink in putting this GB together.
Aloha, you all. We're in the middle of a cold spell, wind chill factor is 85 degrees F.
FedEx attempted delivery on Friday, but no one was home so they left a Door Tag. Since no one was going to be around on Saturday as well, I called FedEx to hold the last 2 boxes for me at their depot. They told me to call back on Saturday morning to make sure my shipment was held. I had to go to work at 6am on Saturday and called FedEx at 7am. The dispatcher was able to contact the Honolulu office, but said they did not open the counter yet. I had to wait a few minutes, but Honolulu clerk John finally came on the line and told me he had the shipment ready for me. He said they close at 11am, but I told him I would not be able to get there until about 11:30am. He told me no problem because he'll still be in the warehouse. After I finished work, I blazed down to FedEx, only to realize I went to the FedEx, and not
FedEx Ground depot. I got directions to FedEx Ground, which was one block away from FedEx. The office was locked when I got there so I rang the buzzer. A few moments later, John came out and told me to back up to the warehouse doors. He brought out the boxes and I loaded them into the van and now I've got all 15 mics and 10 preamps to experiment with.
One of my engineer friends is just starting a project so I'm letting him use my Bricasti M7 reverb and whatever mics and pres he wants. This will be a nice way to shakedown the gear. I'm going to ask him to check out the ACM-1200s first and see if I can get some clips from him to post, if we can get the client's approval.
I also got a tracking update requested by Chance showing that all 5 packages totalling 254.70 pounds were delivered.
FYI, shipping charges for my stuff to Honolulu, Hawaii totalled $685.04.
Thanks again to Chance for arranging the GB. I'm looking forward to the one once my bank account recovers over the holidays. I've got some gear rentals going out for New Year's Eve and early January for the likes of The Bangles, Foreigner, Ne-Yo, Gloria Estefan, and Dionne Warwick, so that will be a good start towards replenishing the GB-GAS Foundation funding.
Happy holidays to all, I know mine will be.
