if the rack is not on an angle , four screws may not be nessecary
put two on the bottom though to stop it from twisting .

And if it is that heavy and permanetly wired , they could just as well sit there
no ?

so if they're not moving , and that heavy , and wired up you could get away with them
sitting there
I have a quad G.R. MP-4 steel case xfmr i/o , i thought i'd save room but it becomes so heavy
that you don't want to put anything else in the rack , Hey did you say they were heavy ? Man !

Yes, and you could get 2 screws into units 1-3, but for 4,5,6 you'd not be able to get any screws in most likely without modifications. And I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but these units are HEAVY!!! Lots of iron. I wouldn't want to have them in a mobile unit with only 2 screws per unit. Not advised.

I just measured and compared with a known single space rack piece, and they're identical. Photo on PSW

I got the spare ribbons, sit tight. My problem now is: Everyone wants everything now

good to know...i know i've bugged a couple times about this...i'll STFU now that i know they arrived with everything else :D

After the guys unloaded the 40 foot container with cartons containing 4 pres each, the first thing they said was "Man those were heavy" LOL

I bet!!! I'd estimate a box of 4 to be around 60lbs. I can't imagine unloading an entire 40 footer of those....

i second the motion to let the cat out of the bag!

If anyone with a 1081 gets a chance, could you please take a photo of the innards? This will help us decipher whether it has a class-a output stage and if it is truly a N*eve clone.

Careful. I don't recall these ever being presented as a clone. Inspired... but not a clone.

Anyone else here extremely curious about how these things actually sound?

I'm dyin' ova hea.

Rather humorous . . . isn't everybody here pretty much hoping it's the same exact circuits as the 1073, 1081, and 1084? Y'all put the last two numbers on 'em ;) I mean, an opamp front-end with a class-A single-ended-into-a-transformer output is "inspired by", is it not? But I figure that is not what you hope you are getting :p

It's a safe bet that AMS-Neve is aware of the group buy, given that AMS-Neve dealers hang out on PSW, where the buy has been quite prominently posted for months and months and months now. It's fair game to copy their circuits as they are quite old. The only thing AMS-Neve can do now is protect their trade dress, and these don't look much like the originals (although a little bit like modern AMS stuff, but probably not enough to matter. All audio stuff kinda looks alike anyway. There are only so many different ways to do a knob!)

Agreed. I for one, hope these things are direct clones. And a good point about the numbers. If we wern't trying to get in the ballpark of these legendary pres, why would we have the same numbers?

Have you checked your spam folder?

Yes. Spam folder and trash folder. I remembered, I tried to sign up quite awhile ago and the same thing happened. I don't know if my internet provider is stopping it from getting thru or what. At any rate.....no emails as of this AM - about 72 hours into my "just a few minutes" wait.....
