Zetajazz44,
JTC111,

Orange isn't the top vote-getter. Blue passed it a while back. :D

There are two choices for orange (bright and burnt). I thought he might be looking at the combined number and thinking there's a great preference for orange. :)

Chance, Randy and others -

Not that anyone cares what I think, but the more the GB tries to......shade the truth or bend the rules for some individuals - (declaring the products as samples, gifts, splitting the shipment to different countries, etc.) - the more I think I may choose to opt out of this GB. Currently I'm slated for 27 pieces and what amounts to a huge amount of $$$ for me (and a buddy). I'm worried that by bending the rules for some, this GB - or future GB's - may hit a snag for all of us with US customs or other officials.

I appreciate the fact that everyone wants to save as much as possible, but the reality is that the prices alone should be enough without cheating the powers that be. For those in Europe especially, I understand that shipping is expensive, but the Euro is killing the dollar and you are getting even more ridiculous pricing than we in the US are, so maybe it's not as bad as it seems?

The complexity of this GB is approaching mammoth proportions for everyone involved, and I believe that making it more difficult or further delaying the orders due to increased complexity is too much for Chance and the rest of us to deal with. The higher we climb......the further we can fall if things head south. Perhaps those in other countries or in places where shipping or duties are cost prohibitive should do their own GB's, thus bypassing FedX or other air shipping prices completely.

Hopefully these issues can be definitively ironed out by the leaders of this GB before the payment deadline arrives. Sorry if some find this offensive or irritating. That was not my intent. I'm just trying to make sure that our rather expensive purchase goes as smoothly as possible. For me. And for all of you as well.

Thanks.

WORD........... ;)

Geezus wept...................FFS Chance................WTF is going on when "someone" is advertising GB gear with prices like that BEFORE this current GB is even of the fucking ground? Mate, I'm sorry but the first thing that came to mind was dumb and dumber:confused:.

Probably from the last buy, it only looks like he has two in the eBay store.

The first thing I was wondering was where is there a beach in Albuquerque? :D

I posted this over at GS in response to some posts about products being shipped as samples, gifts, shipping craziness, etc. I thought maybe it would be appropriate over here as well. Love to hear some of your thoughts. Forgive me if I come off too harsh, that was not my intent. I'm hoping this GB can be the best it can be for all of us!! Cheers, bp

I replied over at GS and I would never jepordize all the work that has gone into all this. I was only kidding when I mentioned "gifts and Santa Claus". It's my desire to find the best cost effective way to ship overseas. Someone posted this about a "Freight forwarder"

Hey Change, Tom et all UK buyers.

If there was one large shipment to the UK for all orders it would save all of us tons.

And here is how

We Dont use the normal carriers like Ups, Fedex, USPS.. we use a Freight Forwarder.

Chance, you are in Ontario CA right...
We i moved back home to London from LA a little over 2 years ago.

I shipped all of my personal effects through a freight forwarder. I can dig up their info if you like. the shipment took 4-6 weeks (dont remember exactly). it went by sea.

The total cost for the shipment, (and this is 5-6 cubic metres) was just about $2000 USD (about £1000 UKP) including insurance.... this included all of my recording and musical equipment (quite a lot)

So on an order of this size ( meaning the total of the UK part of the group buy) we could get the price way down.

I thing the price per cubic metre is like £300 USD.. Thats a lot of preamps and mics in a cubic metre.

I will have a dig through the records and should have the info by the end of the weekend.

That sounds interesting -- just thinking generally (I don't have any experience with these). Would this work such that you don't pay US import duties on the stuff that's going elsewhere? You'd need to pay the duties at the ultimate destination, but at least both wouldn't be paid? I suppose you'd have to figure out how to separate the shipments that go off to other countries prior to getting the shipment through US customs, but if that's the case, I'm sure it's an often-addressed issue. Sorry for all the speculation on my part -- just sounds like it would be a good fit for the problem at hand.

to save everyone a "I'm feeling lucky" google search:

It's the possibility that this would create an additional convoluted workload for Chance from an admin., perspective that has had me "concerned" ever since the idea of direct shipping was first mentioned. It would probably be a different story had this been an included option right at the start.

True, of course -- I suppose the crates/boxes from China would have be clearly labeled and distinct enough from one another that the agent could easily separate them (and that may not be an option). Anyway, way too much speculation from someone in the US with no int'l shipping experience (me, that is), so I'm be quiet again now.

Yeah, well maybe it is from the last GB but FFS look at the mark ups from GB pricing to his "list" prices :eek:. Chance has implied that he's looking to certain things for the future regarding the TnC products but this guy has pre-empted things and virtually created a precedent with his pricing...............with "friends" like that who needs enemies..............no manufacturer discloses their costs and even with the low prices for the GB gear we don't know whether or not Chance is making a small profit on each mic and preamp, personally I hope to hell he is but the fact is that (this current and past) GBs have disclosed the type of buy prices most manufacturers face when sourcing from Asia.

I know the guy in New Mexico. He sells a ton of them. I thought I posted this but I have no problem with you guys reselling this gear. That is one of the reasons I refrain from posting prices on the forum.

Well if Chance goes into business then he sells to resellers at his discretion and price, so I don't think this is much of a precedent. What was funnier to me in the last GB was the dude who only bought for resale but didn't get the shockmounts (as with the others) and complained he wouldn't be able to resell them . . . dude, reward is a function of risk, take a business class or something :D

Maybe "precedent" wasn't the right word, I just don't see much wisdom from a business point of view especially when the guy is showing "Lists" that are marked up approx., 400% to 600% from the GB pricing.

ACM-6802T Sample

I finally got to do some recording last night...

This is a cover tune done by a local band, the lead vocal was recorded using the ACM-6802T, stock...matter of fact I just burned in the tube last week...

I realize there are some timing issues with this song..etc., I know that, but I just wanted to post it so if anyone wanted to hear a vocal sample, mixed/processed of course, recorded using the ACM-6802T...

I recorded 2 passes at the lead vocal, one with my Rode K2 with NOS Telefunken tube and this one with the ACM-6802T, and for this particular recording, I, as well as the band, liked the sound of the ACM-6802T better...

ACM-6802T Lead Vocal Sample

Thanks,

Randy

Any reason why there is no payment deadline??

Yes. With all the confusion of getting the new payment gateway up and the late setup of Virtual Checks, Chance just didn't set a hard date in order to be a little more flexible...

I just got off the phone with him about 1 hour ago, and the date will set today. I have no idea of what date it will be, something came up and he had to end the call early, but he said that he'd call me back with it in a while... When he does, I'll post it, mass email it...etc.

Someone on GS has family that ships to and from China exclusivly. He is offering his services. You guys from the UK and Austrailia might want to check him out.
