Burnt orange? It's bad enough I gotta see that color on half the shirts around here in Austin. Are you affiliating yourself with the University of Texas, Chance? :D While I have some disdain for the UT Longhorns, whatever color the pres end up is cool.

I was wondering though, if Friday is the cutoff date for payments, shouldn't lots of folks start paying? It'd be a shame to overload the servers on Friday by trying to get in at the last minute!
I haven't seen anything stating a new cutoff date for payments in either this forum or the mass emails. Have I missed something? As far as I know, that date has not yet been set.

I heard instead of round knobs they're going to have little miniature longhorns that you twist to adjust yer levels. Yessir.

Hook 'em.

The deadline on the user console is "to be determined"

Funny you should mention that. I just sent samples to the manufacturer. I want to see if they can do a "burnt orange anodize". It's a very dark orange, almost brown/bronze where the brushed aluminum shows thru. It has a real touch of class.

Whatever you do choose, will all future orders be the same? The answer could make a difference for some people's orders, if they were only buying a single channel, with intentions of adding more next time.

Which is, of course, on the bottom of the rack.

Of course!! Next time I design a bay (hopefully never :D) it's going to be at eye level, recessed in a wall with rear access. :D:D That will make me a happy camper.

Gee, that's also a great description of the "perfect girlfriend". :D

HEY!

What's this thread about again??? I forgot........

Problem w/ E-check

Hey Randy,

First of all, thank you so much for spending all of this time getting everything organized. It is incredibly convenient.

Secondly, I tried to pay with an e-check, but I got this error:

msxml3.dll error '80070008'

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

/MUSICIANSWORKSHOP/UserConsole/CheckOutVC.asp, line 73

If you need me to pay with a credit card, I can. Has anyone else had this problem?

I believe this is in relation to a previous issue

At least this is my opinion... And they can make these errors go away just in an instant of my complaining about them... I suspect they think that I'll just get tired of complaining about 1 day per week and ante' up with a more $$$ hosting plan... So far I've not caved in... as I've not went above or beyond the hosting plan that they sold to me...but they have went against their bargain by promising me less than 99% downtime...

We'll see how this pans out..."

YEP, I'm on tech support with them right now... They've removed the XML parser code from the web server now.. This is why you're seeing the error on the checkout page right now... I've not changed the code...

They're trying to force me to buy some of their "other" services, so they keep taking portions of the site down and causing headaches...and everytime I complain, they keep saying, "you need to upgrade to the $79.99 per month account"... AND again, I've asked for a written guarantee, that if I do upgrade and I keep getting these XML Parser and email server errors, they have to refund 2 X the price of these upgrades, back to me... They won't do that, much less, give ANY guarantee of any kind...

I know, I could just change hosts... But, I'm between a rock and a hard place... All of this group buy stuff it already set up there, everyone knows the URL's...and I just bought an SSL certificate to secure the domain for payment... Those are not cheap, not transferable to other servers and they are also non-refundable... So if I change hosts, the SSL is useless and another will have to be bought...

Here's just a little bit of what I've been fighting for over a week now:
To start with, on any of the pages where I send emails from inside the User Console, the host started requiring "authentication"... Which isn't a problem to add to the code, but I'd like to have been informed before they made the change to the server so I could have prepared the code and site before they "just changed the server and caused the site to go down"...

SO, I did what they asked and added the authentication lines to the code that sends the emails, and was back up and sending emails... About 2 days later, same thing: More email errors...SO, I was back on the phone with them again... This time, they are telling me that now I can't "send mail on someone else's behalf"... I am sending emails from my server and the FROM line is Chance's email address... SO, I set up a new admin email address on my domain, to send the mass emails and password requests...etc, from, and aliased them with Chance's email again... This worked for about 2 days, then started getting the same email errors...

This time, they told me that I couldn't send more than 1 email message, per object creation to send mail... I'm using a server object CDO to send the mail... SO, in order to get around this, I'd loop through the database of email address's, and create and destroy the CDO object each time... This way there was only 1 CDO object creation per email being sent... This worked for about 2 days, then started getting the same old errors...

This time, they don't like that I'm sending out the "vast amount" of emails at one time as the server does for mass emails... We're sending about 800 each time...in about a 2-3 minute window... They're now limiting the amount of emails that I can send from the email server to 75 in a 5 minute time span...

SO, now if I spend the time to write code with a timer that sends out the mass emails in that prescribed time-frame, I'm sure that within 2 days, they'll change the quantity/time formula or something and all of that work would be in vain as well...

The part that really ticks me off, is that each time I've gotten one of these email errors, they'll hit me with the "you need to upgrade to the $79.99 per month account"... SO I can clearly see what they are trying to sell... It's obvious...and I really don't mind buying it, but like I said before, there will have to be some kinda of a written "up-time agreement" before I'll send them a dime after all of this...

If they'd just emailed or called me and told me that they didn't like my bandwidth usage or email server usage, and that they'd like for me to upgrade, I'd upgraded right then... But the sneaky way of extortion that they've used, I'm just not caving in....yet.

TA-DA!

And just like that, while I was on the phone arguing with them, the XML Parser issue went away... AND I NEVER MADE ANY CODE UPDATES DURING ALL OF THIS...

My neck is starting to get sore from being jerked around by these clowns...

Zetajazz44,

You should be able to move an SSL cert to another host as long as you keep the domain name the same. They're tied to the domain name, not the IP. If your hosting provider bought the domain name for you, that may take a little more effort to straighten out, of course....

JTC111,

Orange isn't the top vote-getter. Blue passed it a while back. :D

I posted this over at GS in response to some posts about products being shipped as samples, gifts, shipping craziness, etc. I thought maybe it would be appropriate over here as well. Love to hear some of your thoughts. Forgive me if I come off too harsh, that was not my intent. I'm hoping this GB can be the best it can be for all of us!! Cheers, bp

Chance, Randy and others -

Not that anyone cares what I think, but the more the GB tries to......shade the truth or bend the rules for some individuals - (declaring the products as samples, gifts, splitting the shipment to different countries, etc.) - the more I think I may choose to opt out of this GB. Currently I'm slated for 27 pieces and what amounts to a huge amount of $$$ for me (and a buddy). I'm worried that by bending the rules for some, this GB - or future GB's - may hit a snag for all of us with US customs or other officials.

I appreciate the fact that everyone wants to save as much as possible, but the reality is that the prices alone should be enough without cheating the powers that be. For those in Europe especially, I understand that shipping is expensive, but the Euro is killing the dollar and you are getting even more ridiculous pricing than we in the US are, so maybe it's not as bad as it seems?

The complexity of this GB is approaching mammoth proportions for everyone involved, and I believe that making it more difficult or further delaying the orders due to increased complexity is too much for Chance and the rest of us to deal with. The higher we climb......the further we can fall if things head south. Perhaps those in other countries or in places where shipping or duties are cost prohibitive should do their own GB's, thus bypassing FedX or other air shipping prices completely.

Hopefully these issues can be definitively ironed out by the leaders of this GB before the payment deadline arrives. Sorry if some find this offensive or irritating. That was not my intent. I'm just trying to make sure that our rather expensive purchase goes as smoothly as possible. For me. And for all of you as well.

Thanks.

bp
