Well I finally got to use my ACM1 Ribbon mic's this weekend.

ACM1 on trumpets (2) and trombones (2), naiant MSH1 on sax's (3), pair of naiant MSH2's on drums, bass and keys DI'd.

Keep in mind that I'm quite a beginner at this, espeically with anything thats not guitar based!

This was recorded direct to stereo so unfortunately can't provide clips of the individual sections. I'll go through the soundcheck takes sometime next week just on the off chance I have some isolated clips.

Can't wait to get some new stuff on this buy!

Did you have more than one ACM-1?
 
Woops sorry yes, I meant to imply that I used one ACM1 on the two trumpets, and another ACM1 on the two trombones.

Thanks for the complement - its the first time I've done a full recording of something like this. I've recorded these guys at a gig before, but the mic's were done by the FOH guy and I just took splits, so this was a bit more challenging.

Chance, the vocal mic was an SM58:o!

I did have an Oktava MK319 and two Audio Technica AT4040's available, but the Soundcraft Spirit SX didn't want to power them for some reason - its very old and beaten up so it didnt suprise me!

Those metals sound awesome! I may get one just for recording that.
 
while we're on the topic of recordings with the ACM ribbons, here's the ACM-4 with a lundhal recording my son playing bagpipes -- he's standing about a foot from it, and it's to his left (*not a place a person would want to be :) ) -- he's just getting warmed up (and he's 13) so give him a break if you're a connoisseur :cool:



more to come after he gets warmed up (probably go to the mp3 clinic, and everyone who listens can then go to the emergency clinic :D )
 
got the mass email. great news! glad to be moving forward with this. can't wait to hear the new news, chance. thanks again for all the tremendous effort you guys have put into this. it may seem like just microphones and preamps, but seeing the way this has come together really fills me with tremendous hope and gratitude in the grand scheme of things.

Mass Mails

I got a LOT of delivery failure notices for the mass mail. If you are registered, you can read it on the console. I suspect the failures are due to spam blockers

Yeah, or that he's really not a recording engineer, but he did stay at the Holiday Inn Express last night... :D

I've gotten all the previous mass e-mails no problem. This time... problem.

I'll hop on the console to read it, no biggie, but my filters haven't changes at all and thought I'd pass that along.

If none of your filters have changed, it might have been "keywords" or a particular string of characters that were in the body of this particular email that caused it to get kicked out... Just a thought...

BTW, I got the mass email just fine.
 
Well, it looks like we will be opening up the payment process this Friday. Also we re-opened the registration. The payment period will be ten days.
 
Shipping Outside The Usa

I am still working on this and just spoke to NAMM/DHL
Their rates for a three pound package to the UK is around $50.00
A one hundred pound package to the UK is around $375.00
three pounds to Austrailia is $54.00
one hundred pounds to Austrailia is $514.00
All of these are two day delivery
I am still working on prices with USPS and will post when I get more info
