I seem to remember Chance saying that he has a new shipping system worked out. He was hoping that all orders would be shipped within a week. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

...I'm just trying to get a ball park. It's like you said, some are saying 6 months and some are saying christmas...

Pertinent dates from my last order--everyone's story was a little different (I mean, I think one guy still hasn't claimed his, which messes with the average somethin' terrible:rolleyes:), and this next buy is bigger, with different items (the pres) that might pack and ship differently, and Chance has mentioned getting some help with the packing/shipping part which was such a burden, etc so who knows--but just to give you some peace of mind, here goes:

05/06/07 Ordered via email
05/12/07 Received request for payment, paid same via PayPal
11/14/07 Received request for shipping payment, paid same via PayPal
11/20/07 Received notice to expect shipment
11/27/07 Received my order (shipped from California to Maryland, USA)

So you can see--in my case, it was a little over 6 months, and it was also close to Christmas--both things were true.

One thing I can say to all involved: MAKE SURE YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS READY TO GO. Do it BEFORE it's time to order...some folks got tripped up on that last time; problems with credit cards, not having enough of a balance, etc. Just make sure--do it now!;)

And what Wreckd504 said bears repeating: a person might be in the first batch shipped out or in the last, or anywhere in between (Chance had to do them in a series of shipments, there were so many). I think I was somewhere in the middle. And no, there was no way to know where you were on that shipping list--though we all speculated ad nausem about all the possible ways to organize a list of names/email addresses. It's some sort of a trade secret, I think...:)

Yeah, and a few people had problems with recently changed addresses. It messed up the whole payment/shipping label thing. I think Chance got the shipping addresses straight from PayPal.

Make sure your shipping address (on file at PayPal) is correct and is verified. It only takes a minute to log in and update it. Although, verification may take extra time.

A couple items worth noting as far as timing goes.

First, Chance has stated that it will take about 3 months to manufacture the pres once they are ordered.

Second, as I understand it from one of Chance's previous posts, the manufacturer for the pres is NOT the same as for the mics.

Consequently, timing for completion and shipping may be different for the mics and pres.

Finally, I believe Chance has arranged to sub out the packing and shipping on his end which should speed up that process. I think it took about a month from when they got to the US for me to get my mics last time as I was on the end of the shipping list. Should be faster this time.

That said, once the mics and pres are ordered, timing is largely out of Chance's hands.

Cut-Off Date, Invoicing & Payment Discussion

Several pages back in this thread, we discussed the abilty to be able to Add, Edit, Modify & Delete your order via the User Console AFTER the product invoices were sent out, but NOT AFTER you had made payment.

At that time I thought this would work just fine, but after briefly discussing this with Chance, I believe we will have to modifiy this a bit. Chance needs to have the "best figure available" as to how many items are actually being ordered BEFORE he can put an accurate order into the manufacturer. That being said, if GB participants Add, Edit, Modify or Delete their products beyond the cut-off date, the quantities would constantly be changing and ther would be no way that Chance could get an accurate count.

I'm not sure how Chance or everybody participating in this GB would like to handle this, but with the cut-off date rapidly approaching, we need to discuss this and arrive at a solution that works for everyone best it can.

One solution that I was thinking of, was to have the the current "cut-off" date of April 13, 2008 - 12am EDT be the cut-off date for new registration, and adding another date, maybe 1 week later, before the ability to modify your order is disabled.... Or we can just have the "current cut-off" date be it... the cut-off date, and at that point how you have chosen your products in the User Console stands as your correct order...
I've not discussed this with Chance yet, but I wanted to get everyone's oppinion on it as well.

I just know that at some point in time, there has to be a "real" cut-off for the ability to Add, Edit, Modify & Delete your order otherwise Chance will never get an accurate count to give to the manufacturers.

Also keep in mind, the longer we wait to get an accurate order into the manufacturer, the longer it will be before we get our gear...

Let's put our heads together and make a decision on this ASAP as the clock is tickin'!

That was the problem I alluded to in my last post and I think you have the right idea for a solution. The only problem I see is this one: if some mics that are currently on the list are going to be excluded from the GB due to lack of interest, the people who are signed up for those mics may want to alot the money freed up by the exclusion to other included GB items.

For example, suppose I have an ACM-1 on my order. So far, only 7 have been ordered by the entire group. It may be that those mics will not be part of the GB due to the lack of interest. Money that I was going to spend on that mic I may want to use to buy a different mic from the list.

So I think the solution is the right one, but we also need to hear from Chance about the possibility of mics being excluded, and if that's going to happen, the sooner people know about it, the sooner they can adjust their orders.

Also, a clarification, if possible, on the criteria for pre-amp prices. As it stands now, there are (theoretically ordered, subject to people's financial reality checks) 278 ACMP 73's, 129 84's, and 85 81's. If the 81's do not surpass #100, does this mean that both the 84's and 81's will be at a higher price than the 73's, as all model number quantities did not reach or exceed the minimum of 100 for the price break? And does the price break on the 73's of over 200 units still exist?

Thanks for clarifying, if possible. Hopefully, the 81's could still break 100 units ordered, making this concern moot.

I see the possible variation of prices and availability as the primary, if not exclusive, reason for adjusting an order after the cut off date. I am, for instance, in for several 84s and was considering switching to 73s if they did not meet the price target. That situation seems to have been resolved but others, such as the availability of the ACM-4, is still in question.

As has been said regarding various factors in this buy, participation is dependent on the understanding that we're giving up certain privileges we associate with commerce such as experience with the product, customer service, timely delivery, and fixed costs. A week seems too long since I doubt much will change.

I do not see that resolved, as my understanding is that all three models have to break the 100 unit target to get the price break, and since the 81's have not, then the 84's will still be at the higher price (but not the 73, as it has reached the 200 unit threshold.)

I've been lurking here, PWS and GS, I am in for this buy and decided it was time to comment.

Randy and Chance, THANK YOU!!!!!

My suggestion is.......................

Everyone else, lets make this as easy as possible on these fine people. The cut off date, (13 Apr) is it. If Mic's are not ordered due to quantity then they, and ONLY they, can adjust their order. (If ya don't like the color or are bothered by the lack of reviews then simply don't pay for your order)

7 days after the 13 Apr cut off (20 Apr) is the change order cut off date for those who had to adjust for non ordered Mic's and ONLY those unfortunate people.

13 days after the 13 April cut off date (26 April a Friday / business day) is "pay or don't play" cut off so Chance can order and pay for the gear we have been given the PRIVILEGE to buy at such an extraordinary price.

On the day the order is sent and paid for, a Countdown To Christmas clock go's up on Chances site and we all just patiently wait for our surprise. Could be early, could be late, could sound amazing or just plain great. Whatever!!

Any more Fly's in the ointment from those who "Just want to hear a review / need re-assurance to make sure" are only holding up the gear for those of us who understand and accept the situation for what it is: "The best opportunity around for affordable quality gear WELL below the price point we usually shop at."

I don't mean to be blunt but it really is easy to make this easy. If ya wanna flame me cause I ruffled yer feathers I could give a Rats A*s, make it creative, I enjoy a good insult.

Again THANK YOU Randy for all your efforts to make it easy and supply information to us and Chance. BTW wheres the "Give Randy a Buck Button" its the least I could do.

THANK YOU Chance for what your doing, because of your efforts I get to make my studio a step or so better even though I have a wife, ex wife, kids and a mortgage. Thank goodness for people like you, please reconsider your tip decision, I gotta buck fer you too:-)

To anyone who has issues with color (give it a Chance, pun intended) or the possible $25 price difference to entice you to participate or any other "issue" PLEASE give the organizers and the rest of us a break. The trains leaving the station, hop on board, you are most certainly welcome. If you don't wanna hop on board, no harm no foul but PLEASE, quit puttin logs on the track!!!!!

By the end of that post, I was waiting for you to tell me to keep off your lawn! ;)

BTW, I've always been on board with the "let Chance decide" faction. 300+ people trying to agree on any issue is a recipe for madness (i.e. Congress).

Consensus is the mother of mediocrity. The preamps will be a dull, greyish brown color. :D

Welcome to the board Steve!

You bring up some good points, thanks!

I am supposed to talk to Chance via telephone this evening around 7pm EDT, to give him a walk-through of the "Payment/Invoicing" section of the ADMIN console... Yeah, it's already built...just 'idling' waiting for the checkout day!
At any rate, I'll bring up these points to him on the phone tonight, about the mics that might be dropped from the GB all together and try to urge him to make a decision right away on those... As soon as a decision is made, it will be posted here, and some other boards as well, and the User Console and Registration page will reflect those changes as well.

I hope no one thinks that I'm being hard-nosed on this deadline business, I'm not a machine or a big company...just me, and I'm sure that I can deal with special cases on a case-by-case basis if need be. I just want this to go as smoothly, accurate and quickly as possible, for the good of everyone participating in this Group Buy.

Again THANK YOU Randy for all your efforts to make it easy and supply information to us and Chance. BTW wheres the "Give Randy a Buck Button" its the least I could do.
Steve, thanks for your kind words! Truth is, I'm having a ball developing all of this software to manage this group buy with...hardly seems like work. I'll say now too, THANK YOU to everyone who has made a donation. I had planned on not posting a link to it again, only in the original post, kinda feel like I'm soliciting, but here ya go: "Give Randy a Buck Button"

Again, I plan on discussing all of this in detail with Chance tonight and I wanted everyone's input so the best decision is made. Thanks for everyone's input!
