Randy....check your PM's....
I have a tube mic that I like very much, a Rode K2, that I have a NOS Telefunken tube in... I'm at a dilema of whether I want/need another tube mic...
Here's what I have in my collection thus far, maybe someone can point me to which mic in the group buy that would "add to" what I already have:
1 - Neumann TLM103
1 - Rode K2 (Telefunken Tube)
1 - Nady RSM-2 Ribbon Mic
1 - ACM-3, given to me because of sagging ribbon...which I've since fixed.
1 - Red5 Audio RVD1 Kick Drum mic
2 - HRM-10, Ribbon Mics from original group buy
2 - Oktava MK-012
4 - Red5 Audio RVD9 Dynamic Snare / Tom Mics
4 - Rode NT5's (2 matched pairs)
8 - Shure SM57
8 - Shure SM58

This looks great - basically the way it worked before, but hopefully with a lot less headache for Chance.
One process (not really software) question -- I know I specify my shipping address up front with the initial payment. Later, if things change for me (like I move or something), and now my shipping address is different in the second (shipping) invoice payment, that'll be handled appropriately? Just wondering about the possibility that the older (and now invalid) shipping address from the first invoice would cause some confusion -- Chance would have presumably calculated the shipping cost based on that older one.
The guy has 33 mics and he wants us to tell him what he needs. All right, here's what you need: self-restraint.
33 mics....sheesh!
33 preamps...?
Matti
edit: the 1200 type mic is a good starting point for mic modders

Actually, that's the boat I'm in right now... I only have mediocre preamps at best... and really, other than the quantity, my mic collection isn't anything to wow over either...
I do think that I would be more pleased with some of my mics if I had decent preamps though... Can't wait until this GB is over and I have a new flavor of pre to try...

In quality, it's the same, but the quantity of the time period of the group buy makes it more likely for something like this to happen than in most transactions. I don't think it'll happen to me (knock on wood), but I suspect it did happen with one or more participants last time. Its the same if you ordered from amazon and then moved, there would probably be the same confusion.
Hi!
I joined this GB for the pre´s ( sadly only 2 -would need 4 )
as a once in lifetime thing... At these prices it won`t
go overly wrong, and you can modify them by having
better transformers.
Matti
What the hell do you need more mics for??? You need 33 ACMP73s!
My dream mic is a Neumann U47...but I doubt I'll ever have my grubby hands on one of those...

When I worked at an old film studios sound dep´t in the early 70`ies
we had U67 as our main VO mic but it was way too dark to my tastes
mainly because of years of tar from smoking....
My modifyed mic has an U47 ( M7 ) type capsule in it, so I´m trying
although with little money

No opamps here!
As far as I know they are discrete transformer balanced units,
more info somewhere in this thread. -Edit. :
"I thought I mentioned this before, but maybe it's worth repeating. My console in my studio is an A & H Sigma, with 24 of the 32 inputs having 1073 pre amps built into the board. I have grown to love these preamps and with the help of the tech that services my board, took the design of these pres, and reworked and fitted the design into an existing enclosure. We sent it to China for their engineers to study. They built a prototype and sent it back to me. We tested it and made some changes and sent it back. they reproduced the changes and sent it back to me. We again tested it (my Neve tech did all of this) It sounded great (my test) we then approved the electronics and had them re package it into a compact enclosure and they brought the finished prototype, ready for production, to the NAMM show. Me and my tech forfitted going to the NAMM show on Friday to really go thru these 3 pieces of gear. We were so excited at the results, but reluctantly had to return them at the NAMM show on Saturday. The idea was mine, the circuit design was from a well known Neve tech here in LA. I paid him for his time and it was money well spent. We both never thought that these things would be this well made especially for prototypes"

Ahhh.... so now I know where the GB 73 design came from, but where did the 81 and 84 design come from?
