On the 6802, it is omni, card, fig 8 and 6 steps in between

Have no idea what I was thinking looking at the schemo.
Obviously, the backplate hangs at about 60V.

In any case, I receive the 6802 in a few days and double check/reverse the thingie/make a clear schematics.

I know they weren't able to bring them with them to the NAMM show, but what is the status of the missing shock mounts? Any ETA?

I am trying to change this, but they said that they will send the shockmounts, and a couple hundred ribbons with our next order. To try to help with the ribbon sag in the future, extra ribbons will be included with each ribbon mic ordered. After doing a few ribbon tension adjusts, It sure gets easier with practice.
To everyone that ordered mics with the coneshaped mic holder, (I think there were only 6 of those ordered) There is a screw-on round knurled nut that secures the mic holder to the mic. They actually removed this nut from mics at the NAMM show and gave them to me. I think the "670" was one of those mics. I have a lot of sessions from today thru the weekend and I will post what mics are left over next week. I hope to post pics of the rack gear this weekend. Whoever posted the pic of the schematic, I'll send you the jpg and you can post. (you know the drill)

93 Pages and thats the first info that's bummed out. Well... apart from hearing reports of some of the cool Mics I DIDN'T order but that was my fault. lol

Before getting scarce again with real work... any updates on the 3D patents or trademarks or copyrights or whatever it was before let the drooling masses see the new gear they've been working on? :D

Thanks again for doing all this and putting up with us and our questions.

I could be wrong on them sending the ribbons (with the next order) because they said "they don't weigh much". I will shoot an E-mail out now on this. I am guessing they will send them in a plastic tube to protect the integrity of the ribbons, but how will I send them from here??

What do the new preamps/comps etc sound like?

Chance, can you describe the sound of the new rack gear or do some comparisons to existing preamps/comps that you've used?

Many of us already have various pres & comps, it would be usefull to know what category of sound they fall into compared to brands many of us are familiar with such as Mackie, Joe Meek, RNP/RNC, DBX160, API, etc.

I'm at a stage where buying a mid level pre at a decent price is not as important as saving up for the right pre. For compression I'm looking for colored rather than clean, etc. Some comps are better for elec bass than snare, etc.

Neve on the preamp. I hope to post the 3 preamps this weekend. I still have a little tweaking to do to the compressor

Maybe I had better clairify something. They are not Neve clones. but are based on the 1073 design. My console is an Allen & Heath "Sigma" that was built for Cheap Trick with 24 of the 32 inputs having 1073 pre's built in. I have grown to love these pre's. As many of you know it has taken over a year to perfect these outboard pre's to the point that they are very close. I was so happy (and sad) when I took and returned them to the manufacturer (at NAMM) to let them know that we will go with this design.
On another note maybe someone could start an interest poll for mics. I already have a ton of future orders for the ACM-3, 310, 6802, and 583.

Gawd, that's likely to open up a can of worms , much like some years ago when certain Chinese sourced LD mics were being "likened" to Neumanns;).

A safer way to describe things would be to say they had a "classic character to their sound".....................at least then, you may stay out of "trouble".

I've never started a poll before, but I'm willing to try. I just don't want to start one if someone else does.

Well, it is NOT a copy, it's only based on the design so yhere shouldn't be any problem. If it was a copy, it would be too pricey
It was the sound/charactor that I was after. You might remember the second prototype that I posted pictures of? Well that box has made 2 round trips to China since then. I really wish I could post pics, but have to wait. Maybe tomorrow if the papers arrive.

Chance,

I think you misunderstood...............the Chinese vs Neumann "can of worms" I referred to had nothing to do with any legal aspect, it was solely pointed towards the reaction of "forumites" who either, because they were "twats", automatically disparaged the new mics and anyone who was prepared to give the mics a chance, OR, because they were either naive or stupid, expected their low-dollar mic to give them U87 performance.

By mentioning the "neve" word, you are opening yourself up to the same kind of issues.

Gotcha
We'll just let the pre's speak for themselves,,,after all they will be the "ACP" line (Another Cheap Pre) NO other brand makes THAT claim. LOL

i sincerely hope you make it rich with this chance* :)

*after first helping us all outfit our studios with acm's, acp's, acc's, acla's, aca/d d/a's, acll (lava lamps), etc.

Are we concentrating on the same list from your website?
Will the German hand grenade mics posted a few months ago be part of the next GB?

I'm not too sure about the grenade thing because to get the best prices, quantity is important. I saw it at the NAMM show and it was so ugly, I don't care how good it sounds, I'm not sure I want it. It is MUCH bigger in real life compared to the picture. In fact,, it's probably the largest mic I've ever seen. And VERY heavy too. I MIGHT get a demo, but what would I use a weapons grade mic like that on? Think weight/space/shipping/=$

is it uglier than the crowley and tripp el diablo? :D
incidentally, is there any thought about matched pairs of capsules (cardioid or omni) for the 310s in the future?
