The file was a 35MB jpeg, so I'm going to crop it into four pics and resize so they'll upload here, trying to keep adequate resolution. If that doesn't work I'll try uploading it (them) to a website with a link here.

Here's the first:

In a few hours, I will be posting the first look at the new preamps. 3 are rackmount and 1 is a 2ch stand alone. The cost is really going to depend on interest. The cost for tooling/developing will be absorbed by a group buy. The cost can be reduced by almost 50% with a 100 piece order. I only wish I had gone with only one design. That would have made things simple. With microphones, it's a little different because they use many common parts for many mics. I can't seem to upload jpgs here so,,,, you know the drill, someone sends me an E-mail, I will reply with the attachment around 4:00pm (So Cal time)

any info on the differences between the four different designs? are they all designed to imitate the sound of neve pres? the size of the 2 channel suggests that they are doing this w/o input and output transformers (but maybe not). any news on the opto-compressor?

well... the last thing i need at this point is more mic pres. looks like i'll be buying some tnc mic pres soon :D

I couldn't fit this next one on the screen with adequate resolution, so here's a link. Unfortunately, the original file's image resolution of these is terrible, but hopefully adequate.

looks like the pr****us bl** **be if you catch my drift...

LOL. Yes much in the same way as the first pieces looked much like Behr****er. The stand alone piece might change in the future. Any similiarities are only on the outside

so is the only difference between those three the EQ, or will the preamps also be different?

The mic pre circuit is the same. Actually the three rack units are three steps in the evolution of this pre. I'll let the public decide what is preferred. The Pre*****us looking one is a stripped down basic version. I don't even think it is worth offering it because the others offer so much more for so little more.

Personally, I'd prefer the simpler unit. I don't really want to see EQ in a mic pre. But I'd like to understand how the two gain controls function.

In any event, the simpler the signal path, the better. And it could have the added benefit of being less expensive.

Actually, if you look under the phantom power switch, there is an EQ defeat/bypass switch.
The benifit of the EQ, is that you have the Neve 1073 style of control going in to your recorder.

These units look very interesting. I believe once we all know more about each individual unit and what each offers, most people will lean towards the unit offering the most sound shaping possibilities. To buy an outboard EQ of any quality now is quite a few $$$, but to have one built in with a bypass is a tremendous value. The cream will rise to the top, I think one of these 4 units will dominate this group buy bringing down the price.

So perhaps I'm a bit confused. If you decide not to offer the stand alone and the other three is just an evolution to the final product, then am I right in thinking that there will be only one model offered? (which is fine with me, I'm ordering in pairs)

If I may offer an opinion on the eq. I own a Toft ATC2 pre with compression and eq on each channel. The eq rocks on that thing. Look up some reviews. The eq was a big selling point.
An eq to match with the 1073 quality will be killer. JMHO

the second version had some more useful eq functions, the last one has di and a vu meter. both seem to have strong selling points.
the 2 channel one seems to have a tube drive (?)

I might get two just for the EQ alone. I forget, was there also going to be a TNC compressor?

Maybe obvious to everyone else, but I take it the rack units are all single channel?

Wow! The 1073 type EQ looks promising.

I am excited to read specs and see the 'guts'.
