any body know about the pencil condenser shockmounts?

are they single size or the squeeze clip adaptable kind?

Okay, so I want to buy an ACM-3 ribbon, but don't want to read 30+ pages. Can someone give me explicit directions on what to do to order this? Also, does this come with a mic clip or shockmount? Do ribbon mics need a shock mount?

The new Group Buy thread starts back on page 22...so that's only, like, 9 pages! :)

I don't know if they need one (someone else more qualified can speak to that) but I'm operating under the assumption that it can't hurt.

I am wondering this as well.

Do you have any more info on the ACM 583 with the "polar pattern switch"? Is it a dual membrane capsule, and how many patterns does it have? Any sensitivity/self noise/freq specs? Thanks.

Chance, i know you're quite busy with answering questions and providing pictures.

But if you find the time (any you have them available) can you post bigger, higher quality pictures of the mics?
Also some Schematics, or intenal pictures?
Thanks greatly!

Chance, I forgot to mention that I would also love to know what brand/model capsules the mics have, if you know.

Mic for bass voice and mic for acoustic guitar

I want to buy a mic for vocals. My voice resembles that of Johnny Cash, only deeper. I also want to buy another mic for my acoustic guitar
I want to use the mic for recording and live.
Of all of the models offered in this GB, which microphones would you recommend.

I am a newbie. I have read all of the thread. If I missed the answer to this question, I apologize in advance. Please direct me to the responses.

Thanks

Without knowing anything about these mics except the general type (condenser - large vs. small diaphragm, solid state vs. tube, or ribbon) it's hard to say anything more. In general, large diaphagm (ACM 582-3, 670, 6801-2, 580L, 550, 560) for vocal and small diaphragm (ACM310, 240, 220) for stringed instrument are what is usually used. The ribbons (ACM1, 2, 3,4) may work for either, and miking amps, but will need a clean preamp with lots of gain for acoustic guitar.

BTW, my voice sounds like Don Knots, but I want a mic to make it sound like Johnny Cash. I'll trade you a nice mic for your voice. :D

You still need an amp...... sounds great on an amp.
Qualifier...if it's the same quality as the lasy buy

I am almost certain that they are all made by 797. Some are the same capsules that ADK uses for their "Vienna" series mics

LOL, Damn near fell on the floor. LOL

I have yet another question if you know the answer. What kind of output coupling do the different mics have?
It can be assumed that all the ribbons are xfmr.

You are correct with the ribbons, There are also FET and tube

chance thanks so much for this. just won a tv spot (genworth financial commercial - my music :):):) ) so i've got some extra cash to blow on gear. i will email in the proper fashion as soon as i decide which and how many of these mics i'm going to buy. i'm really happy to see this kind of thing happening. really great.
