Mine's raw wood also, but it looks cool! Thanks for the catalog too...even though I wouldn't know how to order from it. ;)

Got my 10 the other day and used it to record a quick demo for a new song for my band. It made a sweet overhead over the drummers head. picked up the entire set well and would have been fine with just that. Added a bass drum mic and a snare to trigger reverb. I then put it on a marshall combo recording both clean and distorted guitars. it sounds great for both of those. Didn't sound very well at all though on my vocals.

a big thank you to chance for doing this. If theres ever another im in for sure.

Like I mentioned before, even with clean hands, you will leave skin oil on the wood which will eventually attract dust and turn to dirt. I am putting a clear (maybe even with a toner) coat of poly on it to make it smooth.

The catalogs are for any possible future group buys.

Tung oil is a nice and easy wood finish, and can be applied over colorful stains.

All I know so far, is four mics @ 32.25 lbs. :)

What, did the Tung Oil lobby buy out your contract with Carvin :p

Is there going to be another group buy in the near future? I would love to be included if possible.

Is everyone losing it? Or what!

Yes.

Just opened 'em, but I can't try them until tomorrow.

Egads! Case of Doom for HST 11a's! Killer shockmounts! My HRM 10 boxes appear to be finished, stained an awesome cherry color. Spiffy catalog, as well.

Regarding the "front" on the HRM 10's. I notice that on both mics, the XLR jack pins are arranged with one pin centered on what would be either the front or back, I wonder if this is a side effect of the hardware, or a designation of directionality?

I got home last night after a week out, opened my stuff and played 'till the wee hours. The HRM-14 is very nice...quite a bit more sensitive than I was expecting. The HRM-15 is an even better treat IMHO.

Just one problem...which side is the front? :D

Thanks Chance for workin' it.

Anyone that was in the last group buy has a catalog if someone wants to start another, go for it. I am in my busy season now and don't have the time required for this. I would recommend someone that is in several forums and set a deadline/cutoff date around the end of August. I recieved more orders AFTER the cutoff date, than I did before. We got 69 mics and there were I think 30 people who ordered. It is much more cost effective to get several mics each. this is because of duty and shipping etc. With the HRM-15, we saved over $200.00 (compared to brand name mark-up) for one mic. Now figure this, if you were to get 2, you would be saving $400.00, with a little extra for duty etc. I will help as much as I can.

I'd definitely like to get a few of these mics and try them out. Count me in on a next buy!

I didn't get any brochures/specs with my mics. Anybody else? The info in the catalogues doesn't appear to be very mic specific (about the same words for all), and the HRM 15 isn't even listed.

This is wierd. I was just on Nady's site and they have users manuals you can view. Our HRM-15 is their RSM-4 (@$379.00). Our HRM-10 is their RSM-3.

Thanks a million, chance. I am happy as a pig in shit with the mics, and well worth twice the money, so don't get me wrong, but the build quality on the HRM 14 leaves a lot to be desired.

Mine had a rattle when I opened it - screw loose inside. I took the mic apart and put the screw back (transformer mount.) But the upper and lower front and back panels, which are supposed to snap in, were glued in with contact cement, and one of the snap lugs was broken off.

I made some slight modifications and it all fits together well now, but mechanically this may not be a long lasting mic.

On another note - front versus back.

I don't know which is supposed to be which, but the two sides of the HRM 14 differ in the ribbon depth between the magnets. One side is several mm closer to the surface than the other, so I expect there will be differing frequency responses from the two sides.

Can you E-mail me that photo with the missing screw? I want to send this data back to China. It will help (for leverage) on the next buy.
