Just bought a Groove Tube GT55 for 200 marked down from 300. Anyone have any comments on this mic and the deal I got?

I have one. I love it on vocals. It works on almost every voice I've tried it on.

Guitar Center green tag sale huh? I would have bought one too if I didn't own the GT66 already. Great deal on a great mic, you did good.

AHHHH! I just wrote a thread about this earlier. You could've hagled those guys down about 30-40 bucks. I had them down to 150 before they told me they'd sell me a gt57 for 250. Take it back and tell them you're buying one on ebay, they offered to give me the difference not to return it. If you haggle theY cave, you just kinda have to be a jerk. Saved me hundreds so far.

Yeah what jonnyc said. Try and take it back. This technique works alot of times. I've gotten discounts at other music shops by telling them I would just order the same product from Musicians Friend. Of course that wouldn't work at GC. Man, this is like the third person to ask about or buy this mic today. Great mic though.

Ehhhh I got money and I don t have the energy to haggle with those f'in salesman they are sooo annoying when they are trying to sell you something and I am too nice to tell them to f' off. Though they do know what they are talking about they must get good commision because they really try hard to sell stuff lol.

No, they only think they know what they are talking about. :p

Anyway, that mic sucks, what you need is an Oktava MK319, a russian one, not a chinese one. I just happen to have an extra one I'd be willing to trade you! You know you want it!

Brother, can you spare a dime....................................................

I always haggle them down. My GT55 was $300 with a shockmount, headphones and boom stand.

I use it for most of the vocals I record.

I'm thinking of picking up the GT66, or should I spend the extra couple hun and get an AT4050?

Totally different animals. The AT4050 is a transformerless design, with multiple polar patterns. It strives to be clean and accurate. The GT66 is a tube mic with a good amount of (and very flattering IMO) coloration in a fixed cardiod. It depends on your application. The GT67 may be a good option if you need multiple patterns.

selling a gt55

I'm selling a GT55 (basically unused) for $150 with shockmount if you're looking. PM me if you're interested.
