Nice step up from budget Epis and Squiers.

I had no idea playing guitar was enjoyable. I thought it's just what had to be done to get the guitar tracks down without bringing a guitar player in to do them.

I'm Jones'ing to get home from work to plug it in.

Last night, a friend gave me his Fender Bassman to keep for awhile. I haven't plugged it in yet but I'm psyched.

Those are nice too. I had some Pyramid flatwounds on my Gretsch Anniversary for awhile. Great for rockabilly.

What did you like about them?

Less string noise, smoother playing, longer lasting. Not exactly a jazz sound, but less bite than traditional round wounds. A lot of the rockabilly guys over at The Gretsch Pages swear by them. I eventally went back to round wounds on my Anni, but I'll probably switch back at some point. It depends on the gig. One thing to keep in mind is to buy one guage lighter that you would in round wounds. The string tension is a bit higher on flats.

I have. It sounded like the strings were dead and felt like they had vaseline on them.

That's what they sound like on a guitar, too. Kinda like putting a mute on a trumpet.

It's going to take 6 months to try all these different strings.

That's okay though, I have 6 months.
