Hello again to everyone!! I was talking to a fellow musician in class a couple of weeks ago and he was talking like there was a difference the the sound of some mics he was using just because of their impedance differences. I understand they're going to be different because they're different mics, but is there a noticeable difference soundwise in high and low impedance mics??? Thanks in advance!!

From what I've observed, most high-impedance (let's say "hi-Z" for short) mics are just cheap. It doesn't really have much to do with their impedance. It's just that most low-Z mics are made better. Granted, there are a lot of really crappy low-Z mics (Peavey!!), but that's just cause they're cheap mics. Know what I'm saying? And of course impedance does play a major role in the overall clarity of the signal, and typically low-Z mics have a cleaner signal than hi-Z ones. (Having good cables really really helps at getting a good sound, too.)
