and what are you going to use it for? are you going to get another (different) mic? or wait a while...?

I'm going to be hooking it up to my zoom mrs-1044 (don't laugh) and recording my guitar amp, when I get it back from the shop.

I'll probably get a condenser for vocals probably a SP B1 and mabie a few more shure/senheiser for when I want to record drums.

Good choice. The Beta57 is a great mic for a lot of sources. It is wonderful on guitar amp. I also like it on snare quite a bit.

The beta should make a good "first mic". I used them in the studio trackin my guitar cab and I loved it. I'm gonna grab acouple of them one of these days.
