anyone else nothice this annoyance:

when you drag your mouse across the track view to select a range it selects for instance 1:00:00 - 5:00:00 instead of 1:00:00 - 4:04:359

this is pissy because

if you are doing a copy and paste (replace existing) and you have a note on 5:00:00 it will erase it and in some instances will erase the entire clip that starts at 5:00:00.

so I end up having to re-select 4:04:359 in the select box before I do the copy.

I could have sworn I didn't have to do that in CWP9.

You have your 'snap to' set to one measure. You need to set it to a sixteenth or a 32nd. That'll take care o' dat little problem!!

that ain't gonna do it. i had it set for eigth and i just tried 16th.

thanks for the attempt.

somewhere in their program they need to do a N-1 on the selection method.

That ain't making sense. Try to set it to 'absolute time'. That way, it won't snap to anything. See if that works. Do you have it set to 'move to' or 'move by'?

its the darndest thing. it doesn't matter whether you set it to 'move to' or 'move by'.

ooh, that absolute value thing is no good for me. that's like turning off snap to grid altogether.

Not only that, but I remember reading a thread a while back in which somebody's loops were getting progressively offbeat, and it was because of this same problem. I believe it was the ubiquitous and ever-helpful James Argo who came to the rescue with a solution. In this kind of situation, there's an extra tick in the loop (or repeatedly pasted selection) which throws things off over time, so you have to make sure you loop thru or copy/paste thru (next measure - 1 tick) like crossstudio is saying.

I agree - it does seem like it doesn't work correctly. Snap to whatever should give you a full whatever...
...so Snap to measure should select beat0:tick000 thru (beats per measure):(ticks per qtr note - 1).

The Cakewalk folks who programmed this are probably the same people who didn't understand why 2001 was actually the start of the new millenium. :D
