Ive spent a week emptying my room, tomorrow the builders come to start the work :S

Very much worried that something will go wrong, but also very excited for it all to be finished =]

Its amazing how much crap you find when cleaning out your room.

9 black sacks full of complete and utter rubbish.

anyway, im going to take photos of the progress daily, so il post them up here when i do =]

I was just looking at some of SonicClang's videos over at RP. They're fun, but I'd love to see some documentation of real pros building a studio. Can't wait to see the pics! :)

Good luck.

Whats it going to look like? What are you doing?

Building a wall for a vocal booth. Re-painting, and flooring (with oak laminate finish). Building corner soffits, and desk. New lighting, cable trussing around the paremeter of the room.

Pretty much starting from the top!

Are you going to decouple the iso booth? Since you've already torn your room apart it might not be a bad idea.

A sliding door in front of your bed might be a good idea too.

Is this in your parent's house? What happens when you move out?

And do post plans!

I posted the plans a while back, il see if i can fish them out!

Im isolating the booth as far as putting rockwool between the hardboard. Il try and caulk it up as much as possible, but the main reason was to get a dryer sound and to get rid of machine noise.

Im not putting any windows in, so the booth can be easily turned into a walk-in closet once im done with it!

Let me go get those plans...

Up goes the booth =]

Are you still doing a double door? I don't see much point if you're not decoupling. Just a heavy door with seals all round will be enough.

Yea, only a single door. Managed to get a special fire door, really thick wood. Should be more than fine.

Its looking really good so far =]

Ive been thinking about making wall panel traps.. and then the idea came...

Why not get those modern art canvas' and then fill the back with fiberglass?

Then i get art and a better sound all in one?

what, like this? :D The only problem is that the paint/canvas might reflect the high frequencies.

But surely its a very similar material to one you would fabricate anyway?

But isn't it coated? It really needs to be breathable, and i don't know if canvas is... Will still absorb well at low and mid, but might reflect highs.

im sure canvas is breathable.

there is a place near me that prints onto canvas for quite cheap so il check it out and have a quick breathing test while they arent looking =]

down goes the flooring, sealed up the booth, and on goes the first layer of white =]

Looking good. Hows the isolation? You got seals round your door?
