Can anyone give any suggestions on a inexpensive digital mixer that I can buy? I am looking for a mixer that I am going to use with pro tools? I need 16 to 32 channels? Any suggestions?

I have 32 channels but I don't need them all. My Budget is anything up $1500.00

1st- How do you have 32 I/O (in & out) on your soundcard ?
2nd - what kind of card do YOU have with 32 I/O
3rd -- do you have 001 or Pro-Tools Free
4th -- Is it PC or MAC based
5th -- if you dont use 32, why get a Mixer that has 32 channels!!!
6th-- Tascam TDM1000 is the closest you'll get $450
maybe a Yamaha 01V $600, but they both do 16 digital
The DM24 is the best, but with (2) additional ADAT cards to get 24 I/O digitally, your looking at $2000, maybe $1800 if you know where to look.
But something tells me you need get questions 1---5 straight first

1&2 are trick questions,
You cant possibly have 16 I/O without a soundcard, but you answered question #2 NA ???????
Unless you dont know what your doing your very very confused
if you HAD a sound card with 16 I/O, you cant possibly have 32 I/O. Your thinking 16 in and 16 out, 16+16 does equal 32
but you dont have 32 inputs& outputs, it's just simply and plain
16 in -- either (2) adat opticals, or (16) 1/4 inserts and
16 out--either (2) adat opticals, or (16) 1/4 outputs
Which Pro-Tools??, Pro-Tools FREE or Digi OO1 or MBox or AMIII
and using PC which O.S.: 98, 98se, 2000, XP ????
(still you didnt answer that question)
#5 I dont get it -- so someone is INSTALLING A HARD DRIVE
so you can record AUDIO ON, ((if that's what you mean, it's just a HARD DRIVE, not a HARD DRIVE RECORDER)
and if you have a HARD DRIVE RECORDER you wouldnt need the COMPUTER.
(hard drive recorders)= Mackie HDR, MDR, SDR, Tascam MX2424, Alesis HD (if you dont have either of these, he's just installing a Hard drive into your PC computer)
Behringer DDX3216 will probably be up your alley, being you want 32 channels and all --but READ CAREFULLY, you have to BUY cards to get a FULL 24 channels, most of these mixers come standard: 16 analog inputs, 8 digital. so if you want ALL DIGITAL, you'll have to buy their DIGITAL CARDS and they always leave (2) slots, so your looking at an additional $600 tacked onto the mixer --depending which one you get-----
02R is the way to go, but I doubt it'll be in the $1500 range, unless somethings missing or wrong with it, and it'll be Version 1 also
((just thought of something, PRO-TOOLS only works with a proprietery sound card, meaning one of their own: 001, AMIII, and they definately dont do 32 I/O)) I know I have both cards

he has a 001 its 32 audio tracks but only 18 rec at 1 time im sure thats what he dosent wanna say i dont know why i got a 001 im pretty happy with it

also what you didnt mention the dm24 has hui emulation thus its a pro tools control like having 2 motor mixes for mix down wich is 1800 in value right there the behringer with the adat card runs you over 1600 without any pro tools midi control and the dm24 sells for 2400 i know cause im saving for it!

I'd go with the Yamaha mixer. Digital in & out. Motorized faders. Onboard effects with excellent compressors. Easily within your price range too. (probally even the newest one.)
