Hi!

I am new to the world of voice recording and I am looking for a setup for good quality voice recording for podcasting.

I friend of mine, in the light of my requirements, pointed me to Rode's Podcaster.

After reading a bit I think the USB mic route is not a good path for future expansion even tough I intend to record just vocals (not singing vocals).

So I was thinking about the Rode NT1-A set. It looks like a very good mic and comes from a reputable company.

Now... to connect it to my MacBook I would need a USB audio interface. This is the where things get complicated:

- Blue Icicle: without a jack for headphones this is not a good choice. I ruled this one out.
- Shure X2u: not a big fan of such a small thing. Isn't white noise (hum, hiss?) a problem with such a compact device?
- Focusrite Scarlett: this seems a good option for the budget I have.

The are so many different brands that I am bit lost. I just need a good quality audio interface for one mic. What is/are the brand(s) that is/are the most used?

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Miguel

tbh the focusrite scarlett interfaces are outstanding for the price and are often my first recommendation to people looking at first interfaces. the Scarlett 8i6 has 4 in's with two built in pre ams and 2 extra lines which makes upgrading and adding more mic's and external preamps very easy. Alternatively the Presonus Audiobox 22VSL is very good. if you just need the one input and don't need/expect to need to record more than one signal at once the Maudio Fast Track is solid and very cheap
