Good Pre Amp for Vocals

I am looking for a good pre amp. I have always been intrigued by the reputation of the Avalon.

I am using a AKG Buls microphone right now.

Any suggestions on a good pre amp to complimnet this microphone?

How much ya wanna spend?

Maybe around 500-750. I am researching now, I might go higher if need be.

In that case, the RNP is probably a good choice for all around use. It's probably best described as transparent.

Lots of good advice so far. I'll take any of them (except the TPA--never heard of it). But I'm looking at a John hardy M1 to compliment my Sebatron.
