or something got lost in the translation.

Compression was used Im sure.

But whats weird, he is right. I thing some definitions might have clouded the whole idea.

Yes, alot of Pro Studio's send a DAT to the ME. The ME then does a transfer into SS or SADiE or PT(shudder). After the ME does his thing (Assembly, dynamics, PQ' subs) the ME will send the finished product to the duper on some kinda of media, could be 1630, DAT or CD-R. Then from there, the duplication house will either tranfer to CD-R to get past 1X cutters speed or use the 1630. DAT usually gets transferred to 1630 or CD-R too. The dupers sould send a ref disc to the ME for verification, usually if 1630 is used, its ok, but if the Dupers did a transfer on their own, something will be different. Kinda of a cluster nut isn't it. Whee...transfers take a while.

I'm still waiting for my copy of Microsoft Ears 2.5 and Steinberg Skill v.6.2 Man ...if only I could get my hands on Sonic Foundry Talent 5 or CoolRooms 4.2 ...my mixes would be the bomb...

:D

(sorry, it's been a wierd morning)

Geez, where can I pick these up at?

I use IK's T-Racks. I ain't no snob, and I get good results. Of course, I don't ask the program to do miracles: I tweak each track extensively before T-R ever sees it. This includes panning, volume finessing, and processing such as compression and EQ and limiting...all of which I consider second best to recording a killer sound initially.
cheers
