Good keyboards?

Can anyone reccomend a good keyboard with the normal piano/strings sounds plus a good drum machine with some none-mechanical (80's!) sounding beats? Good contemporary pop drums? For around £200

Get a Casio. :p

Only kidding.

I think a good MIDI controller and an Alesis QSR might do the trick for you. It doesn't have a built in drum machine, but it has the ability to play drum loops.

I don't know what that translates to pounds but should cost you around $400.

The venerable (albeit somewhat dated) Korg M1 sells in this range on EBAY. It was first made in the late 80s so it may have the sounds you seek.

Hey, don’t be too quick to completely dismiss Casios. They have their purpose. I have a 44key Casio that I keep at work.. Its cheap, it’s a toy, and the sounds are cheesey but its just the right size to keep at work for noodling around at lunch sometimes. Its OK to have fun at work!

Guys, I am aware of the big blow up with the casio-assho, skyy38. I lurked for a couple of weeks before posting and followed every entertaining skyy38 post right up to his ultimate unanimous banning vote.

I like my casio-toy but I am not a wild-eyed nut about it.

Now, my clavinet D6 ... that is a different story. Don't say anything bad about my clavinet or I just may go ballistic like skyy38 did!

Yahama Dx7II-FD, Arp Odessy, and Hammond Porta-B still part of my rig to this day.
 
It was a sad day

when I parted with my Fender Rhodes '73 stage piano. I have since replaced with the Yamaha 88 key p80, and tweaked the settings to my liking. Their ep2 patch is not quite a rhodes, but once you tweak the responses on the graded hammer action, their "piano" has a pretty dam good feel for the $$. I guess it's cool for this dinosaur allowing some of todays technology into the mix. On another note have been having fun with some of the analog modeling softsynths out there too, but that would be talked about elswhere round here eye think.
