Can anyone recommend me any good drum software..... My Drum machine is getting old and I am starting to hate it... besides I need one because I want to record into my PC.
Thanks!

Yep, Fruity is very often recommended, but I prefer Tuareg, excellent drum building tool and also as free version available.

Cheers

Fruity Loops is easy but Acid is by far the superior software.. The song "I hope you Dance" was done with Acid ;-) If you are looking for easy get FruityLoops if you are looking for what sounds better grab Acid pro. For those who recomend Fruity Loops have you used Acid? Just my two cents worth..

Shakes,

I have acid and fruity loops....acid is collecting dust.......

Can you explain why Acid is collecting dust?? Because I can't figure out why anyone would choose FruityLoops over Acid?? If its because FruityLoops is easier for you I understand. But Acid sounds better and I don't know of a studio around that uses FruityLoops... I watch people making albums all the time and use Acid, never seen Fruity in there, or in my studio...

For what I do, Fruity Loops works best for me....but I could be wrong so maybe somebody needs to tell me what I can do with Acid that I cant do with Fruity Loops......

The problem with fruity loops is that you're locked in to beats occuring at on a static time-scale. You can't add a little ghost stroke in between beats without doubling the beats per measure, at which point the entire song gets screwed up because their implementation of BPM is all screwed up. That is, when you go from 32 to 64 beats per MEASURE, the beats per MINUTE should not change....oh but it does.

Along those same lines, you cannot change time signatures in fruity loops. You have to create two completely independent loops.

I don't know what ACID is capable of...I tried XP for a while and hated the fact that I couldn't mixdown to a wav. I currently use Fruity Loops. I used to use Drums! which was almost the perfect solution...but it's extremely buggy and I think the developer fell off a cliff or something.

Slackmaster 2000

I agree Fruity Loops isnt perfect and has its limitations, but it does 100% of what I need and does it well.....

the only better solution would be finding a drummer that isnt dumb as snot, can tell time, wont eat all the food in your house, and can actually keep a beat, tune his drums, and show up sober....all that on top of the extra mics and mixer I would need....Fruity Loops is fine.....

If you're only doing drum tracks, maybe Fruity Loops.

If you're into serious looping techniques, definitely Acid Pro.

Acid pro with drum tools.

Acid Pro sounds a lot more realistic than fruity IMHO. If your mixing house music or want more of a drum machine feel I'd go for Fruity.

I have to agree with FruityLoops, Im not only a user Im also the President.

The Full Version for only $100.00, you cant really go wrong.

Loopes des Fruites

I have to admit, I've quickly become a huge Fruity Loops fan in a very short period of time.

Check this out-- I'm happy to say that my mp3.com page finally went up today. I did a little 30 second ditty to test Fruity Loops, and I'm VERY pleased with how it sounds. I made this drum loop in about 15 minutes, using samples that Gidge pointed me to (thanks again Gidge... thanks 2dudes). I'm not a drummer:

I use Acid Pro but found the number of loops limiting and the one shots did not have the same tone as the rest of the beats so it sounded very obvious when you created your own fill or added a something. I got Smart Loops (used to be drag and drop drummer) and have been pretty happy with it. I use Acid to arrange everything. Smart Loops has a good selection of rhythms, and the one shots were all done on the same set of drums as the rest of the loops so any hand made fills fit perfectly. Also, they have a great selection of extra sounds like cowbells, triangles, chinese cymbals, etc.
