Hey there,
Thinking about getting a good blues sounding guitar. I want to get a semi hollow body, and have been looking at the Gibson ES series.....I have a Fender Strat already, so I want to get something that offers a different sound. Any suggestions??
Thanks, Jason

Heritage Guitar Co.

These guitars will knock your socks off and are substantially less expensive than the Gibsons (which are mighty fine; don't get me wrong...)

You might even say these have a better claim to "authenticity" in a sense. When Gibson moved its operations out of Kalamazoo, Michigan, after nearly a hundred years there, the luthiers who had families and roots stayed behind. They started Heritage Guitar Co. and build these suckers in the old Gibson workshops. They deserve a serious look-see if you're thinking about doing it up right.

Any guitar is a good blues guitar if you play good blues...

Guild Blues Bird.

Don'r have one but I have played them and love em.

Heritage makes a great guitar. Quality is great. I'm not sure about the ES series for blues, unless you're talking the semi-hollow bodies. I think a LesPaul style one would be better because of better sustain.

can you get those pickups in the aftermarket?

I want an SG but I don't wanna pay that much. 3k list is a bit more than the standard model ;)

F*cked if I know...

The 3 G's price tag is Canadian $ ...but yea, it is kinda much.

Still drooling.

I checked out the heritage guitars, and they look nice. will look into the Guild . Thanks for the sugestions!

Define "blues sounding"? Depends entirely on what you want, blues is in the playing - I've seen all sorts of guitars used for blues.

Try your strat with 0.012s on it and the neck pickup through a tube amp with drive on about 5 - that's a pretty nice sound, and when you bend notes it damn well hurts, so you get the authentic looking "I'm in serious physical/emotional pain" facial expressions thrown in to boot...

No-one will care about the sound if you grimace well enough! :p
