Good 7-string pickup?

Like most folks who've played on an Ibanez RG7, I'm disenchanted with the stock pickups. While not atrocious, the stock pickups were a bit muddy for my tastes. It wouldn't respond to artificial harmonics very well, for example. I've recently scrounged up the money to get some new ones and first on my list was replacing the somewhat muddy neck pickup. The Air Norton 7 cleaned up nicely; sounds great.

EMG 707 is out of the question since that would involve routing, and thanks in large part to that "EMG vs. Seymour Duncan" thread I'm probably a bit more inclined to go passive. Of course, I'm looking for a brighter sound, more definition. So far, I'm considering either Dimarzio's Tone Zone 7 or Evo 7. Any suggestions welcome...

This might be a fairly useless response, but since I'm also looking to swap out the pickups on my Ibanez 7, I thought I'd try to keep the ball rolling. I know Ibanez used to include Dimarzio Blaze pickups as stock in their 7's, but I'm not sure if they do anymore or not. (pathetic isn't it? I don't even know if I'm using Dimarzios...) From reviews I've heard, there are a fair number of 7 players that don't like their pickups--too muddy on the bottom. There's a guy that's always on Ebay selling Seymour Duncan Invader 7's for 48 bucks. At some point, I'll probably give those a shot. If they suck, then I got off cheap. But yeah, I agree with you on the EMG 707's...I think I've been officially scared away just by the work involved. Let me know if you find anything, and I'll do the same.

Both Dimarzio and Bartolini make seven string pickups which should fit your guitars. Which one you would like, I do not know. There was a discusion which included this information just about a week ago.
