So my Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0 got electrocuted or something and now I have some buzz in it. It's pretty low and not that noticeable if gated. So it still works but my effects clipping LED and on LED are on permanently.

Oddly enough the effects still work - but now I get a nasty hum if I crank up the faders near zero. So anyway - it will work for the time being but obviously I am going to need a new one sooner or later.

I thought the Presonus Firestudio looked promising, but I am pretty happy with the Alesis so I may just get another one. I need at least 16 tracks.

So I was wondering what you guys use? Looking for something under $750.

Do you have any mates nearby good at electronics? Your symptoms sound a lot like a problem with one or more capacitors in the power supply so it might be fixable.

Beyond that, I can't think of anything better than your Alesis in your price range.

No I don't know any electrically inclined people. You think it could be the power supply? Maybe I should call Alesis and ask them? If I can find a local store with the same item in the show room maybe I could take it in there and test it with their power supply. It uses a proprietary weird 3 prong connector but it is an external trandsformer.

16 tracks for under $750? If you really wanted to step up, you could chain two Focusrite Pro 40s together. I got mine brand new on eBay for $375. I'm sure you could stay within $750 if you shopped around. Another cheaper option is the Tascam US-1800. But, then again, if you liked the MultiMix then you should probably just stay with it.
