hello
Okay - I got
AMD Athlon 1666
K7 Triton KT 400 Motherboard
Windows XP Pro

The stupid thing locks up after loading mup.sys - It will boot up in safe mode, but never in regular or safemode with network support. I tried to reinstall windows, and well, it has to reboot before it reinstalls and it just freezes again during the reboot. I've read somewhere that other people have had this problem. Has anyone here had this problem? How the hell do I fix it?

Change boot sequence in your bios to CDrom first.
Insert the XP CD and reboot.
Hopefully it will allow the XP CD to execute before it gets to bootup and allow you to reformat and reinstall.
I dont know what a mup.sys is !

It does the same thing when you boot from the CD - it freezes
What a pain

memory

check your memory..when I first got XP it would lock up and crash on me all the time...I was using the same setup I had been using with 98 with no problems but XP is particular about it's hardware to an extent...
