Golden Age Pre 73 with Oktava MK-012 pair

I play steel-string acoustic fingerpicking instrumental solo guitar in the vein of John Fahey, Leo Kotke, etc... I am looking at buying a "bang for your buck" pre/mic combo to start making some pro-quality recordings. From what I have gathered the Golden Age Pre73 and a pair of Oktava MK-012 seem to fit the bill and can be found for a total of around $700 used. Anyone out there have experience with this combo? Anyone have any other recommendations in that price range?

I would be running that mic/pre cmbo into a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 with Sonar X3

I think you are on the right track for that sound, both good choices, as long as the oktavas are genuine though, be wary of ebay.
