Which has better gold plating, the Gotoh strat trem available from stew mac ($72.59) or the Wilkinson one available from guitar fetish (43.95)? The Wilkinson also has some kind of weird snap in arm i'm not crazy about.

GFS also has split post tuners that i really like by Wilkinson. Is Wilkinson crap? GFS has this stuff pretty cheap compared to other places.

I would've thought

that you would've considered gold hardware to foofy.

Or is this for the disco slut?

I knew a guy who had a red pre CBS strat that was wore clear out. He mechanically restored it and replaced the hardware to render it useable again. I remember the guitar as having that cool patina of age on the wooden parts you'd expect to weather, but the hardware was all replaced - and made even more obvious because it was all replaced with a different color.

It reminds me of an antique fire engine you see in a parade, or an antique boat. Antique machinery in general. People lovingly buff and polish metal parts on their old tractors and stationary engines, but the rest of it is all puckered up and scuffed.

I bought this strat new and I feel it has a pretty respectible amount of patina acheived honestly. It certainly has served me well and I am going to honor it by dressing it up like Mr T.

Maybe I should rethink this....

Well, they were both made by Gotoh, so they are probably both pretty good in terms of the quality of the plating.
