Going with the Flow……..8 Berhinger Flow8 that is

All I can say is WOW! Bought one of these a few weeks ago and I’m blown away. A $200 digital mixer that has 8 digital channels for your Daw and an incredible amount of control (via the app) for live sound. I have now done both a live show and some Reaper recordings with it and I’m seriously impressed. I set up a snap shot the day before the gig for 4 mics and my keyboard. Dual effects on each vocal mic and gain set for all 6 channels done. Set up the gear fired the mixer up, opened the app pressed the snapshot and I was ready for business….Crazy. No testing, no feedback. Done and done in a minute at the gig…I’m just scratching the surface. The videos are limited out on the net but enough to get me on the run with it….On the daw side it was incredibly easy to get up and running on a windows computer. Haven’t tried with the Mac as I’m traveling right now but I suspect it will also be a snap. We really should have a Behringer section in the audio hardware section of this site. I own the xr18 and it’s a beast , the wing, so many great products they have put out for both live sound and multitrack DAW recording

Quite an amazing mixer - what are the inputs for the Stereo Channels (5/6 and 7/8) - meaning how do you get signal in? RCA? 1/4 Inch?
If you only have 4 mic sources it’s pretty handy - kind of a pain if you have more - Good Price though $199 on Amazon.

5/6 and 7/8 are 1/4" stereo...you can use a splitter and get 8 discrete digital tracks out... Yeah for a small band live kick ass...For a keyboard player like myself this is sweet... $200? Crazy cheap for what it pulls off and the tools it offers. One thing with Behringer mixers of which I have a few is they get hot...At best this gets a little warm.. The Achilles heel on this unit is they chose to go usb micro for the power supply and a lot of complaints that it fails....so bad that there are several videos out there on how to R&R with an upgrade. I'm being very careful with the OEM one and might buy the magnetic release connector to extend it's life. I'm capable of the R&R but holding off for now..Getting back home today and looking forward to going deeper on it's capabilities.

I was interested so I looked up its specifications and was rather disappointed?
Max output +14dBu, a good 8-10dB below almost all other mixers including Behringer's own. The mic noise EIN is given as -117dB weighted! Most mixers/AI do better than -127dB.
I guess if you have monitors or PA speakers of reasonable sensitivity and are yodelling close to a '57 the noise performance is OK but "should do better" in my book.

If I am feeling a bit flushed one month I might get one to investigate with a view to selling it on (I don't NEED one) but then I have never sold any of my gear...EVER!
