...if I put up one of my songs as my first post here. I never saw a greeting/welcome forum, so consider this my hello.

The song is called Postcards, made in Ableton 7 several months ago. Hope you all enjoy it. :D

It should go without saying that constructive criticism is much appreciated. :)

Yup, no greeting or welcome forum except maybe something in the Terms of Service, but probably not. So welcome.

I got about 2 minutes into the song before stopping. It got boring pretty quickly. But.. I'm not a big fan of soundscape kind of songs which I think this is. Mix-wise, seems like you've got everything there, at least from what I heard.

Keep at it and have fun (the most important part)
peace,

Actually, it eventually evolves into a sort of ambient trance, with full drums and everything. Personally, I really like the ambient beginning, which is why I chose to stretch it out longer than I normally would.

They say you only have 7 seconds to make a first impression before people just turn your song off.
Fortunately, we're pretty nice around the clinic, so you get 2 minutes. :D

Sounds pretty decent. Nothing stuck out as unpleasant to listen to.

Welcome to the boards.

I just purchased the intro version of Live, and I think it's a great program. I'm loving session view workflow, especially for soundscape/sample work.

I'm a pretty big fan of the ambient, synth based stuff, and minimal is fine with me, if it sounds good. I think this sounds really good. I got past the four minute mark. It is a bit long to be honest, but it sounds like you got the hang of it. I'm not a huge fan of the tribal drum beat section, but I was liking the trancy beginning alot.

Nice job and keep posting your stuff. Welcome to the forums.
