Anyone been to see him play live before ?

I haven't even heard him on record yet, so I'm really looking forward to it.
I have heard only very good things about his playing but I'm a little concerned about his religious leanings.
Hope he isn't going to start preaching or singing Christian songs
or anything like that which would spoil the evening for me !

He is one helluva of a fingerstyle player....... and those pinch harmonics arps he just pulls out of thin air.......!!! Un-fuckin-believable.....!!!

He conducted a guitar clinic in town here for Taylor guitars................ was the first I'd heard or saw of him.... blew me away!

BTW, I didn't do anything preachy during the clinic........... just straight-up chops.............

I own a couple CD's. I've seen him in concert once and doing clinics twice. I've also had the chance to talk with him a couple times. He's very simply one of the finest guitar players I've ever heard.

He is a devout Christian (I'm not) and he is a little "preachy", but he's also totally sincere in his beliefs and I've never felt any pressure fron him to do anything other than play my guitar the best I can.

BTW.... I find he's much more impressive in person than what's on his CD's!

You're right and that's REALLY hard to do. THe CD's are wonderful, especially H.E.A.T., but they don't communicate the pure power of his playing.

I only have "Fingerstyle Guitar." So, H.E.A.T is even better?

Very much so. He really takes it to an altogether higher level, much more complex compositions, a lot of jazz and classical influences, and an absolutely stunning tribute to Lenny Breau.
