Hi everyone. Great info here by some very knowledgeable folks! I just ordered a Fostex VF80 with CD to record myself play acoustic fingerstyle guitar, no vocals. Special Projects B1 mics seem to get good reviews here, so I might get two for stereo recording.
Do I need a pre amp for these mics? Would it make the quality of the recording significantly better over using the pre's in the Fostex? Also, anyone have any comments on the Rode NT4 Stereo mic? I think it is the NT4...anyway, it's the one with two condenser mics built together in an x/y pattern.
Thanks!

first of all, its the studio projects b1.

and yes, getting new preamps will make a HUGE difference. An m-audio dmp3 would be perfect for you. Two channels for around $160. Again, this will make a huge difference.
