I'm hella excited, I got money for my birthday from family, so I'm going to get an amp, i had a budget before, so I may just get what i originally intended (Vox ADVT30 or oneof those double speakered Ephiphone triggerman amps) but i may play around with others as long and mcquade has 0% financing on yorkville products and I may be able to get something out of my current means.
I won't miss the blown fender 15R.
I'll post pics and possibly sound clips.
Any tips before I chose, other than "what tone i like the best"?

Rather than be the first to say, "This is what amp I have and you should get one, too, because it's the best..." I'll say:

Have fun shopping, and let us know what you end up with! :)

awe man, I didn't get one, they didn't have the AD30VT. They did have a 30 watt traynor( http://www.traynoramps.com/products.asp?type=4&cat=56&id=355 ) that didn't have as many effects or a line for recording? I was told the headphone jack works, but wouldn't the external speaker amp jack work for recording? not that i'm anywhere set up for that, but i like to prepare for eventualities.

Anyone know anything about Traynor amps or hold an opinion based on experience?

I know the one I saw today(for less money) is a solid state and the vox is a tube. But can a solid state be made to sound good?

gah... now that i have the money its even more confusing.

I would definately get a tube amp take a look at a Peavey Valve King

there was also the Fender FM65DSP for 299 which is $10 more than the Vox, and the traynore was only like 215.

The Fender would be best for jamming with people? would i even need that much power?

how much do you have to spend on an amp I would get the most amps your budget will allow.

The Vox AD30VT is a modeling amp for about $250.

You should definitely look into getting a used Peavey Classic 30. It won't have all those extra effects (you don't need them), but it will have a very usable clean and overdrive. I wish I still had mine.

+1, love mine!

Andrew.

I dunno if the Vox is all valve, think it has a valve in the pre-amp stage alright. What's your budget? Anyways, congrats you'll get a new amp soon, whatever it is!

The way I understand it with the Vox is that it's a tube amp with lots of built on effects, and it's 290 from my local long and mcquade. The Fender is 299, and comes to about 345 with taxes, which I could get on friday(yay payday/budget) and Peavy isn't really stocked so I don't feel like waiting a couple of weeks for them to get it in.

I suppose i should explain the kind of sounds I want to achieve, bluesy, grunge, hard rock and then the need to fuse sound will be there, experimentation. A solid state amp could handle this or is that something that a tube would be able to do easier? The 65 watts would make me be heard when jamming with a drummer no?

I live in Alberta and only pay GST. Adding on the PST sucks!

L and M should be able to get one of those AD30VT amps in within a week or so. If that's what you were really looking forward to getting, my advice would be...
1) Order the AD30VT amp
2) Give them some money down like 10%, say $50. balance on delivery.
3) Rent an amp for the weekend with your spare cash so you have some thing to play with if you really need an amp. If not just hang on a few days and you'll get your AD30VT.

i agree with either going peavey classic 30, or valveking. The Vox Valvetronix are nice...but i'd rather go tube..and u can get a 112 valveking for like 400, used for maybe 350. I played one, and it has some pretty awesome metal/harder-ish tones. When i save up, its the amp im getting.

awe man, i wish the canadian dollar would stabalize this high and prices adjust so I can not be so squeemish about spending so much money.
I'm pretty sure i'ma go with the fender 65watt solid state. i want something that will be loud enough to play with a drummer and drive the neighbors crazy. i'll get a tube next time.

Well, I went with the Traynor DG30D. Its got some balls to it, and I'm not any where to being good, so it'll do. I'll post a picture with my guitar, is there a show your gear thread?
