i'm going to buy a new portable minidisc player/recorder... anyone have a suggestion on what model/brand i should buy? i'm willing to spend 150 bucks on it. I'm looking for one that has decent sound quality (near cd or cd) not that big and not that heavy...

thanks for your time!

Definitely go with Sharp MD-MS722 or 702, it doesn't open like most Minidisks you slide the disk in like a video tape which results in not braking it, by opening and closing all the time, plus no dirt or dust goes in. Also Sharp Minidisks have a very high quality recording, compared to Sony I would say it's better. You can find one under $150 on Ebay. Here is one http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1248122978

thanks man!

u got any information on the MD-MT15? i heard it was released 2 years ago and it was released under 200 bucks, so with any luck i can get it for around 150... it says it doesn't come with a rechargable ion battery (like most md players/recorders) but i have one from my other md player/recorder that broke. i just want to know if the quality of the MD-MT15 is good...

thanks for your help!

You sure about that?? I have had only limited exposure to the range of minidisc recorders out there, but I do know that Sharp equipment is a number of grades lower than Sony gear at pretty much every level.

What makes you say the sound is "better"?

My friend had both Sharp and Sony- Sharp sounded better - he hooked it up to a mixer and two monitors. The Sharp ones I'm talking about - only the models I've mentioned, sounded more clear, plus it has much better bass I think three or four levels. I'm saying if you compare two products in the same price range Sharp is better. But it's better only from model 702 and up, the ones that were made before it are not that good. I suggest you go to your local RadioShack and listed to both with the same pair of headphones. Both product will give you good results, but Sharp is a little bit cheaper. I doubt that you'll find a good Sony MD for $150. And for every day use Sharp 702 & 722 will out last any of them. Don't buy the MT15 model. It was made five years ago not two, they just started shipping it to US two years ago.
