I have been reading these boards for a while now and it seems as if everyone on here has really expensive equipment. Sadly I cannot afford stuff that's too expensive... And with that in mind I though I'd ask if anyone plays a Godin guitar... Or more specifically a lower end Godin. If so which one? What are your impressions of them? What kind of amp are you using? Thanks in advance to everyone who replies to this for their help!

I use a higher-end Godin -- they are "fuckin fenomenol"!

Don't worry about how much it costs, tone is all in your fingers anyway. Right Blue Bear?

True... but a cheap-ass guitar (of any brand) will simply be that much harder on your fingers! :p

Incidently, are you insinuating that most of the tone *isn't* in your fingers??

Not at all, I do feel that most of the tone is in your fingers. I'd say about 60 to 75%.

Actually it's 77.563% in your fingers, it's a well-known fact...

I can tell you from experience that that is simply not true!!!

I have been looking for tone in my fingers for years with no luck. I am certain it lies is really expensive gear.

A good riff will sound bad through a cheap amp. A bad riff will sound good through an expensive amp.

I disagree....... a good riff is a good riff - the gear it's played thru simply gives you different sound "colors"...

No.

If your guitar plays like ass, your tone sounds like ass. If it plays as smooth as silk, your tone will be great. The playability of your instrument has a huge effect on your tone.

Absoposifuckinlootley !!!!

Talkin LGX-SA here.
I think all their solid bodies are made to similar standards. A lot of the cost on the higher end models is electronics and high grade woods.

That said, I've played a Godin Multiac, and I wasn't particularly impressed with it.

But I love my Godin
:D

I play a Godin LG SP-90 and it is sweet. For < $500 you can't beat it IMO. You can see two reviews of this guitar at the Godin website. I showed it to a luthier friend of mine, and let him play it. He was very impressed. His eyes got real big when I told him I only paid $450.

You can order all Gopdins at 30% off list.

Are you talking about ordering from Godin direct? And where do you find the list prices? I don't see them posted anywhere at Godin's site.

I had two seperate dealers offer me this deal. I think it is fairly common. The dealer I bought from actually showed me the Godin list sheet. I copied down all of the list prices but I think I threw it out after I purchased. I do know the Godin LG SP-90 lists for $695 ($486 purchase price), and the natural mahogany finish (which is what I got because IMO it's the best looking) lists for $635 ($445 purchase price). This confirms the prices quoted in the one article. I think they ship with gig bags now, but I made them get me a HS case instead for no xtra charge.

One caveat, it took eight weeks to get the guitar, but it was worth it.

I have a mid range Godin and i like it a lot. For the price, its unbeliveable.
