okay I have been saving money and buying stuff for about a year. it seems everytime I buy something I need more. I still haven't been able to record 1 single damn guitar riff, or midi drum track.

I have cubase SX3 and I just bought the E-mu 1212. the only set of speakers I currently have is a set of creative lab 5.1 speakers...of which even with a horde of jacks, I don't understand how to rig them so they will work with this card. It states that you have to disable the other sound drivers in the computer because the eMU ones don't work with other ones running. I bought quite a few jacks, but still no sound. then I tried plugging headphones into the card directly...I figure there is no sound there becasue there is no pre-amp...so I have no idea whether the card is even hooked up right.

The only audio I can get is when I disable the EMU card and use the soundcard attached to the motherboard.

First, can you hook up 5.1 speakers with the emu 1212? I don't care if not all of the speakers will hook in, I just want to hear something...anything. I am a total newb and this shit is very confussing. I have sat on the computer for hours with it and still haven't heard anything.

If you can hook them up, then how, and what settings should I use to make sure I am running the correct ins and outs?

I really had no idea it was this much trouble just to hear something. i can see on the screen when I use a vst instrument such as drummer from hell 2 that the meter moves and sound should be coming out, but when the emu drivers are enabled...everything goes quiet.

You have to configure the card through Patchmix... It's not a plug-n-play type of thing you have to set it up.

You will have to Go into the Card driver settings and enable the Input/Outputs you want to use and you will also have to do the same in your Recording software For Both Recording and Playback....

I"m sure the Manual Should explain all of this Stuff???

I don"t have the Same Card but many are Simular in the way you set them up.....

Cheers
