Please let me know what you think of this first mix. When you're so into a new project, you get near-sighted. Kinda like not seeing the forest for the trees if you know what i mean. So i need your help on this first mix. Thanks!

Not my cup of tea, but who cares? Very listenable, professional sounding voice - always a good start.

Great mix. Bass is tight and deep, keys are supporting nicely. Vox reverb is there in just the right amounts. Drums are clear, although cymbals could come up a dB or two, not a biggie. Lots of well-chosen textures appearing in various sections to keep the song moving along. Top job.

Retrack the drums though, they're dragging all over the place! And steer him away from that phrase he's playing throughout the entire song. It would sound great as a verse variation, but not all the time.

Hi

I like the song a lot. Nice composition and arrangements. The vocal is nicely tracked. You should try to find other drum loops because the drum is not as good as the rest of the music.

Note: I'm still listening to Fan the Flames as I really like that song.

/Jack Real.

Thanks for the input. I passed the info to the drummer. I appreciate the comments.

Not my cup O' tea, but the production is nice, esp the vox. What did you use on it? The vocal, I mean?

Ditto. Please share.

For Guido2, Robin or anyone else wondering what i did on the vocals, I used the Waves Q3 Paragraphic Eq, Waves Trueverb, and Waves RVox with an AKG C 414B-ULS condenser mic.

A 414......
hmm. That gives me a new respect for those. I never much cared for them. I'll hafta give it another listen.

I'm kinda surprised too! I borrowed this mic from a buddy and it certainly was better than i expected.

new version

I've implemented some changes based on suggestions on this forum as well as others. I need some fresh ears. I've been hearing it so long a certain way that it's hard for me to judge if this new version works. I'm not sure if i like it because i've heard it the other way for so long. thanks
