Hi ALL -
Is Gina 20 worth bothering with if it can be gotten cheaply?
Thanks!
Regards,
Andrew

I wouldn't let her hear you talk like that or your not gonna get any at all! Cheap or not...

It's a 20 bit card but it sounds very good. I used to run one a few years ago and had no complaints. I especially liked the 8 outputs, plus it has a S/PDIF in/out. I liked mine.

it's a kick-butt card for the money....and you're right, you can get them inexpensively now. I had one also, and then later got the 20 bit Layla which I am still using. I like it alot. I got the Layla quite awhile ago used, and paid $300...the same for my Gina when I got it new. Now I see Ginas for half that...or even less. 20 bit...24 bit...16 bit.. just record clean tracks...and you'll be happy, I guarentee it.

I've A/Bed her against my Delta 1010 and the Delta is a bit noisier despite the 24 bit advantage of the Delta.

GINA is a nice card.

I used to have a Gina 20 and thought it was a very nice card ... the Digi 001 I'm using now seems clearer on the high end, more general detail. I think that's what you'll find in the difference between 24-bit and 20-bit cards. But that Gina sounded pretty good. Yeah, get it if it can be had cheap (the little hussie ...)

For reference, I sold mine for $130 a couple months ago.

Only thing you'll want to watch is which chipset your computer has. There were incompatibilities with some chipsets, and the only one recommended at that time was Intel. You might want to check echo's site out for any current comments on this... Steve

Well, when I picked up my Gina, I was having big issues with sound card compatibility on the machine I had at the time (an AMD with a Via chipset). I had a problem with every card I tried (Alesis Edit, Pulsar, Yamaha DSP Factory, there are more) and the ONLY one that ran with absolutely no problem was the Gina. YMMV.

Not much help, but I have a laya 2496 and its flawless. I can fun multi cards what ever. and like the gina 8 outs is killer.

F.S.
