Gibson has gotten out of the rare and protected wood business to acuire KRK systems, Cerwin Vega and Stanton DJ - which will become Gibson's new pro audio division.

Yeah I don't get Gibson. They pretty much rape everything great with their stupid ideas. Fucking Juszkiewicz is an idiot out of touch with what guitarists want from his company for the amount of money he wants to charge.

Oh shit we have a classic everyone loves? Fuck it lets put all sorts of gaudy shit on it and load it with electronics that are ensured to fail (the first run of robot guitars sucked ass). While we are at it, lets go ahead and chamber the body so we don't have the give them as much wood! Seriously, fuck this company.

I think the Gibson pro audio will go the same way as when fender tried to make PA systems.

I'd have to agree on the overpriced issue. $1200+ for a les Paul studio? That's nuts. 1200 for a epiphone hollow body? That's ridiculous.

I got one when they first came out --- I should have never of sold it.

I remember when Gibson made guitar amps and PA systems back in the 1970s. Peavey equipment having same or similar specs cost half as much, had a better warranty, and was more reliable. I bought a 4-channel Peavey PA having 60 watts RMS output for $400. The comparable Gibson PA cost $900. I knew one group that made the mistake of buying one of the Gibson-made PA systems and wound up having to return it 8 weeks later when the transformer on the mixer burnt up in the middle of a gig. The replacement did the same thing. They finally wound up getting their money back and went to the Peavey dealer and for the same amount of money bought a more powerful system.
But what do you mean by "when Fender MADE PA systems." Are you referring to the systems they made back in the late 60s - early 70s? Just asking because Fender has been making PA systems again since the 1990s. Some of those first Fender PA systems weren't bad units--as good as what Peavey was putting out at the time and better than anything Gibson was making.

That Gibson now owns the above companies is a great reason not to buy anything made by these new acquisitions. Chances are that they will all be gone within the next few years.
