Ghost notes...

Ghost tones are especially crazy when a band knows they're their and uses it..

There's a fugazi song off the argument that does this. While the chorus/outro is being played a few times in one of the songs (i can't remember what it's called) it sounds like there's a melody line going on.. if you listen to just the left channel it's gone.. just the right it's gone again.. thing that's cool is after about 2 bars of the ghost melody the signer busts out the same melody as the vocal line! incredible..

Wow, I really want to thank everyone for their comments! I thought I was going nuts - I started to mention in a few times after we played... but reason got the best of me and I kept my mouth shut.

Now it looks like there is some kind of valid explanation for this to happen.

Thanks again! :D

heh. we're all a little nuts. we're musicians. =] i know what you mean though. the last tune i recorded had one acoustic and three electric parts and only the acoustic was miced. i can hear bells and chimes in that piece...wierd.

great thread btw.

a couple of times while jamming with a friend of mine (both guitar players) we heard a third part. not like another guitar in the mix but more like the mix of our individual parts turning into a single line that neither of us has control over. not unlike staring at a piece of paper and seeing one of those 3d images. when we both look up at each other, it just kind of dissolves. it's happened three times with this guy and once while jamming with some other guys. the thing with the other guys involved guitar, bass, and a crazy vocal. all parts became one. i couldn't tell which notes i was playing and which notes the other guys were playing.
