SUCK, SQUEEZE, BANG, BLOW
I have searched a bit but to no avail. Anyone know what would be a good way to add this? I thought about recording the quiet passages from an LP to get the real thing and just looping it. Seems rather time intensive. Software? Maybe there's a track somewhere 10sec+ long that can be looped? Help:)

There's a piece of software from the Nomad Factory Bundle called the Essential Studio Suite called E-Retrovox and that produces some really crackly kind of sounds i think you would like.
good luck!

I think there's a free Voxengo plugin that does exactly that

Just downloaded it Rami. I'll try it out tonite. As always....your da man

I guess so. I keep getting these e-mails saying "Enlarge your posts!!!".

Not to be confused with the e-mails that say "Enlarge your penis". Those are from ex-girlfriends.
Ok, I have about 27 responses dealing with the whole "difference between a penis and a post" thing, but I think I'll keep it mature.

Of course, if I'm *too* mature, I'd need Viagra to understand the connection between the two. (Damnit, that one slipped in there...so to speak.)

Jajaja, that´s a good one! LOL

Find an old noisy record and record the quiet section where you just drop the needle and when the music actually starts. Make a loop out of it and mix it in to taste. Isotope Vinyl has a plug that mimics old records (wow and fluter effects too).

Grungalizer in cubase does it but I'd record a bit of the real thing just cause I like recording.

Time?

I just tried it and I guess for a plugin, it's fine. Not quite like the real thing. I do have an old (circa 1949) album recorded by a couple great uncles and a great aunt. I can get about 4 seconds max at the start before the music starts. I'll try looping it minus the initial needle set down. Even the first 20-30 seconds are good for a intro if you would want something like that. If anyone is interested, I can try to upload it to my webspace and link to it.

Try the run out track as well. That way you'll have the extremes of the effect.
Realistically you use a plug in or you do your own. I tried a plug (Isotope) it was fun but I didn't use it.
Get an LP that is well used & record the gaps between each track & build a loop on the concept of the slowly decreasing diameter and slowly increasing relative rev.
You'll much prefer the one you build yourself.
OR get waverepair. Record the run in track & a couple of songs. Take the run in as the declick sample do a reverse removal (remove everything BUT the noises - it allows this with undo so you can be very precise in the application of click & noise reduction but you can save the result)across the entire wave file and you'll have a couple of tracks up to an entire LP of just surface noise, pops & clicks.
EASY!

I would really suggest that you record it from an old scratchy vinyl.

I also suggest you to take a different vinyl every time if you plan on adding this to a lot of your song. many people will notice it if you layer the same crackle on all your songs.

I agree. Recording "quiet" sections is the way to go.

I'm not that much of a song writer so this is pretty much a one-off instance. Just thought It would sound good as a lead in and over the acoustic guitar in the beginning.

Thanks all for the tips.

Also..... Here is a small mp3 sample of what I am going to use.
. If anyone wants a mono .wav file of this at 96/24, let me know. I can email it to you (21+ meg file)
